2020 sti ipod question harmon kardon/navi

I'm trying to make sense of my new to me used 2020 sti with navigation/harmon kardon system. I noticed that plugging my 3rd gen ipod into the system everything seems to work just fine. But no matter what I try, upon shutting the car off and then back on the ipod / media forgets I'm listening to a playlist (or artist block, or genre, or album) and turns on random all songs. So I set my playlist, drive to my destination. Exit. Do my thing. Get back into the car and the ipod has randomized itself. I think its the actual head unit. I don't have the original user manuals as the car didn't come with them (I purchased a set on ebay but haven't received them yet). Just wondering if anyone has experienced this etc.
