![]() Trying to see why the carplay doesnt work.
I want to get confirmation that someone's iPhone 11 is able to connect to the HU thru Carplay on the 2019 non nav HU so I know im not just shooting at the sky here HU firmware has been updated by dealer, supposedly most current. iPhone has the latest update. my phone and cable fired up carplay on a 2021 wrx right away. Guy said he found a fix by plugging a USB Male to USB type C female into the car's usb, and for the phone cable using a type c lightning cable Another guy said the 11 will only connect to carplay when its at 100%

![]() i have an update.
been driving around with my phone hooked up to usb and it connected to carplay again, but this time I did not go and "forget" starlink IV in the phone. and it actually worked for 20-30 minutes, before disconnecting. turning off the car letting it sit then coming back sometimes makes it connect back but now its been MIA for a few days again.. for 2 days it worked so good, I turned the key just half way and carplay would fire right up.. usb ports or software issue? what do you think..it is not my iphone 11 pro gaiz.. apple doesnt make trash..its the car it saw that it can work flawlessely, but it just stops doing so... for no apparent reason I feel like it loses connection for a moment due to a bad usb connection and then the headunit just becomes braindead not wanting to see the connected usb phone.. usb stick? no problem. It does similar thing when I listen to mp3 from a usb stick. for 30 minutes it works and then starts disconnecting every minute, but it is able to continue because I enable the "auto play usb device option". with the car play it goes away for good it worked better with AA and my old motorola. it still lost usb connection but would hook back up. and worked stable. ![]() You may want do a few things with the iPhone which iOS version, version of iPhone ie 11,12 etc. swap the cable to see if the problem continues. Reboot the iPhone. Does iPhone have the latest iOS upgrade.
Now that being said I got rid (it stored) my OEM radio 2018 Forester as it did not have CarPlay and replaced it with a Kenwood. CarPlay only fails very seldom where I have to logon the number code. I also have a 6th gen iPod plugged in the secondary port. As long as I remember to shut it down; when the car is started the next day it will turn itself on and begin playing the songs I have loaded. As long as I have the iPhone XR already logged on and plugged in the USB port the Kenwood sees it but does not play any music on the phone but rather to the iPod. Not sure if this helps but from my point of view I think the automakers think of the sound system as an after thought. Look at the trouble they have with the chip shortage it old technology they never updated it. Just my 2cents. |

![]() no its not the cable. i tried a short one from dollarama, a long one from apple, a long one with a usb type c adapter, it works the same with all. this headunit is just f'd is the problem. or maybe the usb ports are. im gonna make a last attempt and replace usb ports before i replace it with a HU from a real electronics company

![]() It sounds like the USB ports. Make sure the cable is otg but if your using a certified apple cable it’s in the port.
