2018 Porsche 911 GT3 RS leaked

The 911 GT2 RS may be the top of the 911 pecking order but Porsche hasn't forgotten about the equally drool-worthy 911 GT3 RS.

The German firm has been developing a few tweaks for its naturally aspirated track star, and now the updated car has been revealed via a leak.

The leak comes via Drive, which has since removed the photos from its website although not before they were saved by Motor1.

The most noticeable change to the exterior of the car is the more aggressive front fascia matching the one on the recently updated 911 GT3, which itself borrows the design from Porsche's latest 911 GT3 Cup race car. The rear fascia also sports some tweaks and there appear to be some revisions to the rear wing and ducktail spoiler as well.

In addition to the photos, we also have some details regarding the new mechanicals. A 4.0-liter flat-6 remains, though the horsepower has been bumped up by 20 horses to a new total of 520 hp. This was achieved via an increase in revs to a maximum 9,000 rpm, and sees the GT3 RS hit 62 mph in 3.2 seconds, or 0.1 of a second quicker than before.

The rear-wheel-steering system has also been sharpened and a new set of wheels measuring 20 inches up front and 21 inches in the rear have been fitted. These wheels are shod with 265/35 and 325/30 tires, respectively. And weight has been reduced thanks to the addition of a lighter engine cover, new carbon fiber shells for the seats, and reduced sound-deadening material.

Drive is still to the rear wheels via a 7-speed dual-clutch transmission. Porsche won't add a manual transmission to its updated GT3 RS like it did with the regular GT3, though we're sure these guys will.

Thought you flew the coupe(see what a did there) too. My 24 lease up returned it last week. I made some dough on bitcoin, and selling stocks during the run, although now a lost a lot since Friday Monday crap, mainly energy stocks. Anyway so I was looking at another 911 Turbo, then she said go with new gt3

We are looking at the ones in NY and Jersey She wants Manual. I really like the auto with my claw Paw situation. There f-img nuts with price of the Turbo S.

What's the deal with all the 2018 gt3 s for sale used they all have 500 plus minus miles on them? What saleman perk? Dealer owner play thing for the weekend? Couple contact us waste my time only to find it used even the dealer I deal with called me stating I got this etc only to find it got 200 mile on it. Naa I won't new

Hey Avanti, sounds good - can't go wrong with a 3. I'm going PTS Brewster Green and picking up in Germany, so that's probably why I haven't been called yet. I prefer picking up end of summer or fall over there and combine a vacation. Will see - let me know how yours is when you get her. Vanquish not uberfast but impressed with the car otherwise, and you can lop 100k or more off the sticker... food for thought anyway.

Nick rumor is the the Next GT3 will have 550 horsepower With Turbo channeled to the rear wheels exclusively through an eight-speed PDK.

Funny you mention that, that's what I wanted, Aston they have good service for us in Upstate PA, they come up from Philly on flat bed for all service, they had really good deal lease. But this is the last [email protected] Gt3 bla bla bla so I'm just let her do it. That's what she was driving when I met her, that's what she's into too, just like I was Suby/Audi nut, So that's that.

If I can get out of here I'll be comin' to TX, MT, maybe WY. Want a spread for horses, land to hunt, and a river to fish. I got a nice NRA sticker at the last dinner and it is now on the back of the F350 LOL an offense punishable by tar and feathering here.

LA is 6-10 hrs from me depending on traffic, or a 1hr flight and 1-3hrs of traffic once there LOL. I've only done Stuttgart, but Leipzig is the other choice. You get track time if you go there, factory tours at either / both.

2018 Porsche 911 GT3 RS laps Nurburgring
Porsche has today revealed that on April 16, its new 911 GT3 RS lapped the Nürburgring in an astonishing time of just 6:56.4.

Porsche works race driver Kévin Estre set the sub-seven lap around the Nürburgring Nordschleife’s 20.6km length. He was 24 seconds faster than the best time set by the previous GT3 RS.

“This lap was a sensational experience for me”, he said afterwards.

“Through the fast corners and on the brakes in particular, the GT3 RS is unbelievably close to our racing car GT3 R. This is also thanks to the new generation of tyres for road going sports cars.”

Estre’s experience extends to the high reaches of the FIA World Endurance Championship, in which he races the Porsche 911 RSR.

“I like the engine of the GT3 RS a lot. Up to 9,000 revs per minute from a six-cylinder engine just feels fantastic.

“The sound is a dream and the torque is massive.”

It’s an impressive way for the naturally aspirated Porsche 911 to go out, joining the Porsche 918 Spyder and the new 911 GT2 RS as the third Porsche to lap the Green Hell in under seven minutes.

The GT3 RS was in standard tune, with its 4.0-litre flat-six producing 383kW and 470Nm. It was also equipped with Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 Rs, which are track-focused but road-legal.

Porsche says the lap was set starting at 11:40am, in ideal conditions, with 14 degree Celsius ambient and 18 degree Celsius track temperature.

“All four lap times of both drivers were below seven minutes and only tenths of a second apart,” says Porsches GT model line director Andreas Preuninger.

“This proves not only the outstanding power of the GT3 RS, but also its extraordinary driveability at the limit.”



Australians can expect to start seeing local GT3 RS units arrive in the final quarter of 2018.

This part impresses me the most. For both drivers to be within tenths of a second of each other on multiple laps on a course this long is more impressive than the car setting the time.

My girlfriend just picked up a 997.2 GT3 for a daily. Went with it over a 991.1 cuz manual (even though the new PDK is insanely good). Totally see where your SO is coming from. My girlfriend isn't into paying over MSRP for a car and the wait on a 991.2 was out of my girlfriend's patience timeframe.
