I wonder if it's inconsistent build quality and MT got a bad one from a batch? It wouldn't surprise me because there are such an overwhelming amount of variants and quality control has to be nearly impossible to maintain.

I think this is just Ford in general when releasing a new model. This is all too common over the last few new models of any vehicle. It's a bit of a gamble until they "figure out" actual production and QA/QC of the model.

It's only impossible to maintain if you are Ford. Can they ever get a rollout right? I'm no Ford hater as I have owned a few Mustangs and a Focus ST but they have to be close to the worst in the industry when it comes to build quality and issues with new model rollouts.

I am more convinced that the Bronco sport would be a decent vehicle to replace our Ascent. I can give it to my son when he hits 16 in 3 years.

TRENDING? Are YOU Seeing As Many Front End Fails On The New Ford Bronco As We Are?

We've been seeing more and more videos and shots of new Ford Bronco owners having front end/axle issues.

Are you seeing the same and what is your guess of what the real problem is???

This is why you don't buy a first year Ford.

Busted tie-rod on a vehicle being off-roaded doesn't really mean much.

Eh, yes and no. Ford is trying to take Jeep business away and if the competition isnít having issues like that, it could keep people from buying.

That said, I guess it depends on if they are abusing it off roading. Just like when the raptor first came out and people were jumping the **** out of their trucks and bending the frame.

Yeah, that's my point. We don't know what they were doing before it broke.

As long as it doesn't have a death wobble on the freeway, the Bronco will trounce the Jeep. If off-roaders need to install some beefier tie rods to bash rocks and pound over logs on the fire roads, that's just a gateway to modification.

I like Jeeps, particularly the new PHEV ones.. but Jeep can't make excuses for their crappy steering systems any longer.

100%. Itís why I sold my RS. 2nd production year, nothing but issues. Wrong HG from the factory on all of them. Had the TSB/recall, whatever performed. New HG, new Head. Year later, oil supply line failure. Month after that was fixed, bad transmission seal. All with like 6k miles on the ODO. Bye-bye after that. Ford routinely lets the customer suffer through the early years, failing at R&D and build quality, and tossing customers to their expansive service departments to sort out the awful quality. Damn shame too. I love that damn drivetrain and chassis. Engine falling short was the straw that broke the camelís back. Never again. First and last Ford product in my garage.

Wonder if the Bronco sport is having any issues... probably not as it is based on the escape.

I haven't heard of many issues with it. IMO it's actually one of the more compelling CUV's on sale right now from what I have seen. We need to get a new SUV for my wife and the market is full of uninspiring, mediocre, meh CUV and SUV's. The only reason I'm considering the Bronco is because it actually stands out and my wife thinks the Bronco Sport is on the small size for her given she transports a lot of musical instruments from school to school. Also looking at a GV70 but I feel it is maybe too nice for her and how she treats vehicles. Don't thin k the axle issue would be a big deal for us given we likely won't be taking it on challenging off road trails.

I got to look at a four door up close at the football game a few days ago. Rear seat looks as uncomfortable as the Jeep's. Similar build quality to the Wrangler. Really wasn't too terribly impressed.

Default Ford Bronco Soft Top Lets in a Ton of Snow During Blizzard, Owner Says

Quote:

The 2021 Ford Bronco's rollout got off to a rocky start, in large part due to problems with its roof. The Bronco's easy-to-remove hardtop, for example, had crippling quality issues that forced Ford to recall every one sold the first few months. It seems the soft-tops aren't without issues either, as one Canadian Bronco owner claims to have discovered. When he left for a days-long trip in another vehicle, his off-roader was at home with the roof allegedly latched in place. Upon returning, he found his Ford's interior had filled with snow and ice in a big way.

Tyrone Raddi, who lives in Tuktoyaktuk on Canada's northern shore, shared photos of the aftermath of a blizzard that swept through town while he was away for five days. His pictures show a thick layer of snow and frost all over his Bronco's interior, all apparently deposited by 50-mph winds. So thoroughly covered was the interior that it almost looks like Raddi left his roof off entirely, which many commenters accuse him of doing in the various places his photos have been posted.

Raddi, however, insisted his windows were up, telling me that "all the snow got in while everything was secured the way I got [it] from the dealership." To offer further evidence thereof, he filmed a follow-up video where he ventures out to his Bronco, whose hood sits open, showing its engine coated in snow, and some even stuck to the underside of the hood. Unless Raddi left his hood open while he was goneónot likely for the owner of a new truck who lives inside the Arctic Circleóthat would suggest the blizzard really did distribute snow in every last nook and cranny it could reach.

What's more, footage of the Bronco's partially cleaned interior shows its headliner to be coated in an even layer of snow fanning out from a spot at the edge of the roof. Another video taken during December's hurricane-force wind storms showed this part of the roof can be pried from the roll bar by high winds, making it plausible that an Arctic winter storm could exert similar forces on the Bronco's soft top and allow snow in. That certainly appears to be the case, as a consistent layer inside the roof and out suggests it was latched in place when the storm arrived.

Raddi told me that he didn't share the photos to knock Ford, stating that he adores his truck and that he believes it best other owners know what could happen to theirs in extreme weather.

"I only posted to warn other people that they may have an issue as mine certainly did," Raddi said. "It was never about attacking Ford or the Bronco. I still love the vehicle and had no doubt when I got home I would just sweep it out and be able to drive it again."

It's tough to say how significant a problem this poses for Bronco owners. On one hand, soft tops already aren't ideal for climes that see significant snowfall or extreme wind regardless of which vehicle they're on. On the other, we may continue to see both in greater extremes (and in new places) as our climate changes. In either case, it's safer to just stick with a hardtop.

Honestly I don't know..I was waiting to see what you guys said. Is it normal? I have a place in Maine. We've had some pretty strong Wind Snow Storms, my stuff always in garage. People around the lake have trucks outside during blizzards never heard any ramblings about snow and ice caked on engine etc.

Seems like a super extreme case, and a climate that isn't really ideal for a soft-top... The dude lives literally on the coast of the arctic ocean... Okay, maybe not exactly, but pretty damn far up there.

I've seen this discussed on Bronco forums. It's highly likely the owners didn't have the soft top fastened properly and to be honest living in Canada you are playing with fire driving any soft top in the winter. There's a reason most Canadians will opt for the hardtop as there are photos of snow getting in Wrangler soft tops as well.
