![]() I would like to upgrade front tweeters. I've looked into ordering from crutchfield.com and wonder if it requires any mounting kit or adapter... would bare tweeter fit without any modification? would mounting kit come with the tweeter if ordered thru crutchfield.com? any idea?
Thanks, Tim

![]() All of the tweeters that I have seen will come with mounting hardware, whether it be a flush mount or surface mount adapter. Some tweeters have a threaded hole in the back side which will let you mount them to a bracket and if it does it will come with a screw to mount them with. Our front door tweeters are mounted to a bracket and you can remove the stock ones and mount aftermarket tweeters there.
When I changed mine I put the tweeters on the stock bracket in the front and flush mounted the rear doors. The reason I put the rear door tweeters there is because behind the panel in that spot there is a big hole in the door frame which gave me ample space to flush mount them. If I wanted to put them in the forward part of the door panel I would have had to surface mount them and I think flush mount looks better. Nobody ever rides in the back seat anyway and if someone does, they can be swiveled up so their arm doesn't block them. Good luck with whatever you decide. |

![]() I noticed a little difference, the biggest difference I noticed was when I changed my hu. Why don't you go ahead and change the main speakers while you have the door panel off? You know you can get the speaker spacers from here:
http://www.iaperformance.com/catalog...&catalogArea=1 They work great and my cerwin vega components fit nicely with the thick spacer kit for front and rear. Didn't need the tweeter brackets. |

![]() but.. $30+ for the spacer seem a bit too steep. IMO...

![]() mounting my front tweeters was puzzling also until i considered industrial strength velcro. i simply used the original mounts...and presto. also cool about this setup is that by using some pliers, you can "twist" the mounts to afford optimal tweeter aim.

![]() With the spacers my install took 10 minutes per door, of course I'd done it before - but they were great to work with. Honestly though if I had the tools and material handy I'd make my own...

![]() Anyone have tweeter recommendations? For a stock, or slightly upgraded head unit? Options for those with a 4 channel amp?
