Default 1991 240sx black fastback w/ 93 redtop SR20DET & Blitz Active Clutch Kit

Car for sale is a 1991 Nissan 240sx LE (fastback), I live in the Chicago suburbs.

Body has around 100k miles on it, and the underbody does have some rust. Nothing major that I can tell from visual inspection. Looks like the typical daily driven 15 year old Midwestern state Nissan from underneath. The car is still sitting on stock suspension, and is a little soft, but nothing too mushy, and still working fine. No blown struts or shocks, and the springs have not been cut or anything like that. The body does have the typical damage from its 13 years with its previous owner living in Chicago, but hasnt had much more if any damage done to it since i bought it. Im talking small door dings and dents from city parking that would be very easily fixed up during prep for a repaint if you choose to have the car painted another color later on.

The reason I want to sell the car is that I just dont drive it anymore, i bought it as a fool around car when i had a 350Z so i wouldnt be tempted to ruin my nice car. I was originally going to learn how to drift with the car, but lost interest in it when it started to become a mainstream "fad" and never got into the whole drifting thing that i bought the car to learn to do anyways.

Right now the car has sat with 500 mile old synthetic oil, in a garage bay, in storage under a car cover since I moved into my own place last May. It gets started up occasionally to splash the oil around a bit, but I havent driven the car since then and its just a waste for me to keep it sitting in storage anymore. Id really much rather sell it off and use the money to buy some parts for my WRX, and put the rest away in my savings for when this years property tax bill comes. The car starts and idles just fine but from sitting around, im sure the battery could afford to be run dead and fully recharged overnight just to recondition it.

List of modifications are as follows:
- JDM 1993 redtop SR20DET motor w/ 5 speed transmission.
Engine has less than 50k miles, and transmission shifts smooth with no bad synchros. (just over 30,000 km on the original cluster) Not sure on the exact numbers, but all 4 cylinders were consistent mid 150's in compression test, and leakdown test was 5% when the engine was installed. Only about 3,000 miles were put on the engine before it went into storage.
- working power steering (w/ synthetic p/s fluid.)
- working ABS (spliced in the front passenger sensor to re-activate the system after the swap, this is usually left disconnected after a swap to make it easier to "drift" by locking up the brakes, you can diable by disconnecting the quick connect i have in teh engine bay.)
- Greddy full auto turbo timer w/ volt meter (black).
- Spal 14" 2400cfm Electric fan w/ custom aluminum radiator shroud.
- Walbro 255lph fuel pump
- 3" Stainless pipe/ Titanium muffler cat-back exhaust.
- 3" Resonated stainless Test Pipe.
- 3" stainless Downpipe.
- Blitz Single Disc Active Clutch Kit w/ matched Lightweight Flywheel. (barely over 500 easy miles on it to break in before the car went into storage.)
- Brand new rear main seal on the engine.
- Brand new front main seal on transmission.
(Main seals were replaced at same time as clutch/clywheel kit)

Exterior:
- Nismo style front bumper (f'glass, has some small damage, nothing major)
- Veilside style side skirts (f'glass, almost perfect)
- Nismo style rear flares (good shape, but paint is not smooth)
- Veilside style spoiler / wing (f'glass, no damage)
- Shaved antenna mast. (rough job, but shaved nonetheless)
- 16" chrome wheels (balanced and round, but chrome plating has seen better days).
- Cusco style Aluminum front and rear strut tower bars.

Interior:
- Full leather interior. (can be stripped very easily if desired.)
- Interior trim replaced with black pieces, some are painted.
- Digital cluster dashboard w/ gauge cover.
- JDM 9k RPM SR20DET tach gauge in US analog cluster.
- 2" AutoGauge Boost gauge in dual Autometer pillar pod. (shows boost and works well)
- Lancer Evolution (Evo-8) brushed aluminum shift knob.
- Aluminum pedal covers.
- E-brake spin turn knob.
- Pioneer 4x6 3-way 150watt max - all 4 corners.
- wired for sub/amp.

Known problems:
- Typical door dings, body panel dents, and minor scratches, the car IS almost 16 years old after all.
- Hood has small corner dents where it was dropped at some point. Does not affect the hood opening or closing, and hardly noticeable from any reasonable distance.
- Car needs new brake pads and/or rotors. The brakes work, but are worn from use. I DID drive this car for fun, and didnt baby it. The brakes unfortunately took most of the abuse like you would expect.
- Car will put down a pair of strips, but it is unconfirmed whether i actually have a VLSD or not. No way to tell without craking open the rear differential and checking. It is an LE model, which supposedly came factory with the VLSD if it had ABS, and mine has ABS, so I dont know either way. If it does, then bonus to the buyer since all they would need is fresh fluid to bring it back to life again.
- Driver seat is beat up pretty bad, a lot of the seams are torn. However, since the entire interior is stock leather, im sure a pair of racing seats and stripped interior is in this cars near future.
- One of the tires has a sidewall bubble on it. These are not very expensive tires to begin with, probably 50-70 bucks to replace it, and i expect you will probably just get different wheels that suit your taste better anyways once you get used to the car. The bubble has been there ever since i got the car, and never got any bigger even with the hard driving i put it through. Should be fine but its still a risk to leave it there. The other 3 tires are flawless and still have LOTS of tread left, so replacing just the one wouldnt cause a lot of problems.
- Not sure why, but the rear passenger sidemarker chooses when it wants to turn on and not when you turn on your running lights. A light tap of the sneakers makes it turn on without fail. This does seem to be a typical S13 problem and is most likely because of years of oxidation on the connections.
- I do not have the clips for the hatch that help lift the hatch cover when the hatch is opened. These can be snagged from a junkyard or a Nissan dealer if need them. I never had any problems just lifting the lid and tossing stuff in the trunk.

Upon sale and before pickup or delivery is arranged, i will go over the car and make sure there are no problems with it just to be sure. Car will get fresh oil and filter, air filter will be checked and replaced if necessary, and fuel filter will be replaced. Tank will be siphoned and I will fill her up with a tank of fresh premium. Tire pressure will be checked and adjusted as necessary. Car will be washed and waxed, and all windows inside and out will get a full cleaning.

Thanks for reading my entirely too long description of the car I have for sale, but hopefully i have placed enough info in here to answer any possible questions.

I have invested around 12k into this car from the very start of buying the car and ordering the front clip, to where it is now, including full professional installation of the motorset and also most recently the clutch and seal replacements a few months before the car went into storage. Thinking realistically, I dont expect to get that much back, so im open to negotiations on sale price. If your seriously interested in the car then PM me and we can discuss the price im looking for and negotiate on a selling price from there. If you just have any questions about the car, respond here or also go ahead and PM me and ill try to get back to you as soon as possible.

Thanks for looking,
George.

BUMP, still for sale, still havent listed it in the papers or any online car sales sites. Id like to try and make a deal with someone on the boards if they are interested.

Just to elaborate, i am NOT interested in a trade. The only car i would trade for at this point would be a clean running late 60's Camaro SS Convertible, which is worth far more than my car is, so this would be SALE ONLY, NO TRADES. Thanks.

What about $6K for the car? This is just a S13 with a SR20DET swapped in and mostly stock... no major mods. What do you say?
btw, do you have any current pics?

The interior and engine bay shots were taken shortly before the car went into storage. The car still looks the same as it does in the first 3 shots, with the exception of the new muffler sticking out the back, the tints removed from the windows, the chrome NISSAN badge removed from the windsheild, and the crappy fog lights taken off.

I already have someone coming out to see the car and decide if he wants to buy, but if he passes, $6k is not going to cut it. Your going to have a hard time finding a 91-93 5spd fastback and a decent front clip these days in that price range, not even considering shop costs or any other parts you need for the swap.

Heres how fast you can get to $6k on an SR swap:

91-93 S13 Fastback: 1500 - 4000 bucks.
Front clip with EVERYTHING you need for swap: 2500-4500 shipped.
(already in the $6k price range)
Blitz Active Clutch Kit (w/ matched lightweight flywheel): 1050 +shipping

So yea, you can get close to 9600 bucks just buying the car, SR clip, and a decent clutch kit. Not even figuring all the other parts that have been installed on the car, or any of the shop costs for the swap. True you can save money doing it yourself, if you have the time and knowledge to. I did not have the time or facility to do the swap myself so I had a shop work on it while i was at work making money. The swap in my car was professionally installed and tested and when the time came, the clutch and flywheel kit was professionally installed and tested. At that time, the main seals on the Motor and Transmission were both swapped out, so the new owner will never have to worry about them leaking for a long time. The clutch was gently broken in for the first 500 miles or so, just using the car as a daily driver and after that, the car didnt see the road much since i was already fixated on my WRX and intent on buying a house. Once i bought the house, I really had no motivation anymore to drive the 240 and it went into storage. Its time for me to pass the car along to someone who will appreciate it and drive it like its meant to be, but im not in any particular hurry to sell it until i can get a decent offer.

If you want to negotiate on price, please PM me and we can talk back and forth without cluttering the thread. Thanks.

Bump, car is still for sale. Looking into other options for selling (eBay, Autotrader, etc...) And will probably list with one of those companies in the next week or so.

Yeahhh.... I paid $2500 for my clean S13 coupe and $3000 for my super-modded front clip so ya. I think 6K is a good price. Plus, you can't expect to get out of it what you put into it.

No pic of the cluster, but if you were local you would be more than welcome to stop by and check it out. If you can wait until next weekend i can swing by my dads shop on friday afternoon and snap some quick pics.

Also, im dropping my price a little more. $7,500 cash or certified check takes the car. I just got both licence and insurance renewals on the car and dont want to renew either. Im still willing to flex a little on price if someone wants it bad enough. Also willing to play on thebarter system to offset the selling price if necessary.

Im not even asking anywhere near what ive put into the car. Ive already considered any shop costs as lost money, and trying to reclaim most of the cost of parts that have gone into the build so far.

Even at my current asking price of 7500, your still getting a discount on the cost of the "car" and getting over 3k in professional shop costs for completely free.

You can sit around all day saying how you can spend under 6k and do the swap your self and bla bla, but theres no way you could build what im selling for less than my original asking price.

Getting a "super modified" clip for 3000 bucks you must have been super lucky to find. But i got an excellent condition, low-er mileage front clip that will be reliable and run strong for a long time unless you really abuse it. 15 year old motorset with just around 50k miles and near perfect compression tests across the board.

Thats nice for your "buddie". Sounds like he got a really good deal. Does your buddie have ABS? This car does. Does your buddie have a pretty much brand new full Blitz Active Clutch kit with lightweight flywheel? Mine does.

Im glad your buddie paid 5500 for his, but Im asking $7500 for mine. So thanks for the free bump.

Ok, and as far as getting back what ive put in, im already GIVING AWAY all the costs that have gone into shop time on the car, and taking a hit on the cost of all the parts that have gone into this car, along with the car itself.

I would appreciate if people would stop playing this "my buddy got his cheaper" crap with my thread. I know i have a good and reliable car for sale and i already feel like im giving it away at my current asking price. But i want it sold and passed on to someone else before it gets too late in the year and the new owner cant appreciate the car for what its worth before winter weather rolls back around again. Your doing nothing to help me sell my car by pulling this crap, and only making it more difficult to sell.

If anyone is interested, please let me know and i will work with you to sell the car. Like i said, cash isnt the only option, im willing to work on the barter system to make up cost differences if you can get close to my asking price.

Thanks for looking.

Alright, this is my last and lowest asking price on the car. If i cant sell it on the boards, im just going to suck up the cost of listing the car on AutoTrader and attempt to sell it that way.

My absolute lowest asking price, with absolutely NO room to negotiate on price is $7000 which will include an oil change, car wash and a brand new FULL tank of premium for you to drive home on.

Bump from a fellow WRX driver with an SR'ed 240. THis car looks good from the pics, and the swap is very clean, and for a decent price. It's also hard to get ahold of a good clean chassis with ABS.

FYI - Most chassis with ABS from this year also had a VLSD (good) and HICAS (ehh...). If you're laying two patches and not peg-legging, you've got a VLSD. Most factory VLSDs also have a small orange sticker on the side right over the filler hole. And in a pinch, jack the back of the car up, put it in neutral, and turn one wheel forward with your hand. If you have a VLSD, the other wheel will turn the same way. If it turns backward, it's an open diff.

Dont be fooled by the pics, yes the car looks good in them, but yes, it is a 15 year old car that was a daily driver. It does have its fair share of regular expected dents and scratches from over the years. Like Busaru said, she looks good from 10 feet, and hes right. The fact the car is a strong runner and reliable should be more important than a daily driver being able to win a car show after 15 years with no restoration.

BUMP, Just fyi, the car is now listed in AutoTrader.com.

I will still sell to the first NASIOC'er to bring 7k to the table.

For that price you will get the car as it sits, along with new oil, new oil filter, a clean FULL tank of brand new premium, and a pair of brand new seat covers for the front seats. For 100 more, I will do the legwork to go buy and install a new cd player in the car. All teh speakers and wiring is already in place, just a headunit needs to be put in.

Alright, if there is anyone interested in this car, as long as you dont lowball me too much beyond my asking price of 7k, i will make this car yours if its a reasonable offer. I do not want to sit on this car over the winter and wait until spring for someone to be interested for my asking price. Let me know what you want to pay and i will let you know if its yours for the taking.

Thanks.
