Default Are Spec B's much different from Regular Legs

So hunting down upgrades for my recently purchased 08 Spec B has been a bit of a pain in the ass. So as far as upgrading stuff, do I look mainly at LGT parts or do I have to do a mix of STI and LGT? I figure brakes, coilovers, and suspension are probably still Legacy parts, but engine and powertrain more of STI parts?

Spec B's ang GT's are really similar. Spec B's have a different suspension, interior, and depending on the year, a 6-speed instead of 5-speed. The motor is the same. Aside from transmission upgrades, any upgrades to the suspension and motor that fit on the LGT will fit on your SpecB.

I thought (could be wrong) was the biggest difference were Bilstein struts vs. KYB(?) in terms of performance.

The biggest performance difference, at least for the 07+ models, is the yummy 6-speed transmission. Otherwise, it's the suspension (springs and Bilsteins).

You pretty much nailed it. When shopping for engine mods for my SpecB I usually look in the Legacy GT sections or even the 08+ WRX since they are the same motors.

I have an 08 Spec B as well and find it extremely difficult to find used parts for it... I purchased brand new Whiteline sway bars, new Swift springs, and a new GMS catback exhaust (that needed modification to fit correctly). The only thing that was pretty easy to find is a downpipe... I had the Invidia catless DP but the smell was too much so I got the Invidia catted DP for 08+ WRX. As far as brakes, you can use the front Brembo's off the 04-07 STi's (you will need the rotors from the 04 STi). The rears will need an adapter.
The Spec B also comes with aluminum control arms, if you didn't already know that.
