Question 2001 Vs 2002

I wanted to find out poeple's opinion on the new impreza 2.5RS. I think the 2001 2.5RS is so much better than the new model. Better handling, styling, and all around bang for the buck. I was truly disappointed with the way the new RS doesnt get up and go. Anyone agree or disagree with me? I like to hear your comments.

Wow, looks like you missed out on the months of debate that went on here back in January and thereabouts. A search will likely come up with both sides of the story hacked to death for you.

That said, the new RS doesn't "get up and go" because they now have a better model that does that. And now you can go and buy a used old style car and be happy.

Get up and go? Didn't C&D just test a new 2.5 that ran the 1/4 in 16.1? If I remember correctly, Road & Track tested a GC8 2.5RS a few years back and it ran a 16.0. A 16.1 to a 16.0 sure is one hell of a difference... a 10 degree drop in temperature will change an ET .1 seconds, a single slow shift will cause a difference of that much. Some will say comparing magazine test is bad... but so is comparing cars that are basically identical with the exception of 200lbs and an LSD. I own a MY02 RS and I like it... hate to tell ya, it isn't that much slower(if any) and it dosen't handle that much worse(if it does handle any worse) than a GC8. Yes, I tried to buy a GC8. The cost was within $1000 of each other, the GC8 had 5000 miles on it, and I got the MY02 with 6.5% financing vs. the 10% for the used. It was a SRP MY01 coupe, I wanted a BRP sedan. Tell me, would you have bought a used car that you didn't want for more money than it cost to get a new one exactly how you wanted it? Used GC8 RS's are scarce here in Michigan, it isn't always an option.

I test drove the 2001 a month before I baught my 2002. And honestly there is no noticeabe difference, at least that I could find. Except the 2001 was $22,000 and the ass at the dealer wouldn't deal. And I got my 2002 for $18,500 plus tax and title, same options as the 2001. I love my 2002, but I think I'm going to trade it in for an STI if they ever come some day though.

Very good, as did the WRX. However, pictures were available before that, and there was *a lot* of discussion regarding the changes. You'll also notice I actually said

which I hope you would understand means that time of the year.

Do you honestly think that no one discussed the new cars until they were on dealer lots?
