Default new car, which subie?

Hey all, i've been lurking the forums for years and have had various 'fun' cars. Now i'm settling down and have a family of my own and am thinking of going with a subie, my question is which?

I've had a caged NA miata, 3 s13's (one 300+whp) and now a p10 g20 (boring but still sr20 :-P)

I'm thinking of 02-03 wrx wagon or 04+ forester XT 5spd.

I'd like to spend 15k or less preferably. My mom has a forester xt auto so i'm a fan of the 2.5, but i like the closed deck aspect of the 2.0, any comments on this?

I just want something reasonable fun, all my cars in the past have been fairly agile/good handling. I dont want to be stuck with another car i really don't like (g20).

Any major advantage to saving up and getting a 2.5 wrx wagon or even a saabaru? (saabaru's seem to be cheaper around here (CT) than wrx wagons of the same vintage)

thanks!

Wrx wagon FTW... Mine is awesome and growing quicker and more agile by the day(or at least by the month). By the way, the engine block is semi-closed, not closed. Still a big difference over an open deck though.

i would definitely reccommend the wrx wagon. the forester is a great choice also, but with your previous cars, i think you'll get bored with the forester pretty fast. good luck with your next purchase.

Although very close to the WRX wagon, the Saabaru looks nice and cleaner to me. A couple guys on here have some very nice and highly modded ones, go check them out in the Member's Car Gallery.

legacy GT's are way out of my price range. However, thanks to GM's employee pricing and general destruction, i can pickup a super low mileage <10k saabaru for about 18ishk bucks. That may be the route to go. Thanks for all the input guys, i'm welcome to any more as well

Well I have an 04 STi I picked up 7 months ago for 24k, and I just got my wife an 05 Legacy(not the GT but still has the sport shift ) for 17k with 13k miles on it and that was from a dealer( I would have gone private onwer but she still had lean on her car) so you could probably find one cheaper.

Get a Saabaru man, they look great and go like a WRX. If I had extra money for a a more expensive "beater" car that's the car I'd get.

wrx's seem to hold their value here in ct too well, so it may be saabaru time. I wonder if i can get the 'subaru' letters off a wrx and buy some extra a's from the dealer and spell out 'saabaru' on the back :P
