OMGHi2U Look! We did a good thing!!1! (PICS)

Mark has taken a big turn for the worse... he is expected to pass by tomorrow night.

OK, so a friend of mine was diagnosed with Lou Gehrig's Disease 3 years ago and given one year to live (that's right, math majors, he's beat the clock for two years so far. He's had an FD sitting in his garage for a while collecting dust, which he's always wanted to rebuild. Now that he can't walk and doesn't have much strength left in his arms, that dream faded. Until, that is, we got the idea to pool together some money, steal his car overhaulin style, and redo everything on his car exactly the way he always wanted it. It would take too long to list all the things we did/redid/modded, but after 3 weeks, a lot of free labor from friends, and almost 13K , we surprised him with his car on Sunday. I have a couple of movies and around 250 pics, but these give a pretty good idea of Project "Mark's7." pay it forward biatch
p.s. Thank you BruceLee for inspiring the idea (no I'm not joking).

The new ride:

pulling up in the driveway.

the new ~430whp motor

that's mark in the orange shirt (duh)

I just like this shot

Not until we pulled up in the driveway. We had a friend of ours from the local 7 club bring him outside to "look at something on his carfor him" (that's the green one you see in the back).

Not to be morbid, but have you drafted anything legal-like? If he passes away, who gets the car? I can see somebody regretting putting a lot of cash toward the project if his widow/other heir is just going to eBay it.

Last thing you need in that situation is some malcontent raising a stink.

You and your friends are very good people. Not only have you managed to put a huge smile on my face, you've warmed my heart and reminded me that there still are unselfish people in this world. Thanks for reminding me not to take things for granted and that it's not so hard to do a good thing for someone who really deserves it.

Thanks guys, it's one of the most worthwhile things I've ever been a part of, for sure, and to answer some of your questions:

Quote:
Not to be morbid, but have you drafted anything legal-like? If he passes away, who gets the car? I can see somebody regretting putting a lot of cash toward the project if his widow/other heir is just going to eBay it.
It's been his car from the beginning, we just fixed it up, but I have a feeling he's going to leave it to my good friend Jonathan (the guy in the white and brown hat in the third picture), they've gotten really close, and Mark knows how much Jonathan has always wanted an RX-7. Not to mention he did a lot of custom work on the car for him

Quote:
why didnt you let us know? i would have loved to contribute to the fund.
1. I didn't really want people to feel obligated to help out.
2. I didn't want to start a trend in "donate money to help my friend" threads, you know someone would eventually scam the idea, and that would suck.
