Default Towing Capacity

Car: 2002 Subaru Impreza 2.5 4DR
I will be installing a class 1 hitch on this thing thats capable of 2000lb.
Subaru suggests not exceeding 1500lb.
I want to tow two jet skis 700lb each or Two atv's 400lb each?
The trailers weight 700 lb max.
The numbers add exceed 1500 but are below 2000 lb.
GAWR is like 3700.

Any body knows what is the wet weight of this car alone?

I need to know because i dont wanna exceed 3700 with 2 jetski's 4 passengers and and baggage

Subaru Towing Information Page

1500# is with a trailer that includes brakes. Otherwise it is half that amount. And if you have a manual transmission, that amount decreases (in SOA's eyes) due to clutch slippage issues.

I found a document online that lists front GAWR @ 2070# and rear GAWR @ 1890# for the 2002 Impreza RS Sedan. It also lists a GVWR of 3920# for that model year.

If the link doesn't work, google search for "2002 impreza GAWR" and look for the XLS spreadsheet of information. I gathered my numbers from there.

The wet weight is 2805 lbs. GWR is something like 3700. It should be posted in your door plaque.
I think you are pushing it with 4 passengers plus baggage and a tongue weight of at least 200 lbs, unless you and your passengers weigh less than 500lbs. Good chance that you will be on the rear bump stops.
You would want the trailer brakes for sure.
I hope you don't plan on going hundreds of miles.
I would suggest a second car for your buddies and gear or rent a van.
