are you able to open your hatch all the way? im looking for an upright rack for my 06 wagon. i cant really tell, but are you able to slide the front wheel pieces of the rack along the tray? it looks like you have more hanging over the front of the roof, thus allowing the hatch to open all the way.

i currently am using the oem roof rails, with yakima towers/crossbars. the yakima high roller has caught my eye, but i really dont want to mount it backwards. (in order to be able to open my hatch all the way)

Found this one that looks decent but I think it attaches to the sils and don't know how restrictive that might be with the rs.

Go to Thule's website and configure it for your car. They attach to the sills of the car as seen in the pics below

any wagon owners have any experience with the yakima raptor? it looks like you can slide the tray forward, thus allowing the hatch of the wagon to fully open.

What all did you have to do to get the Thule to work?

I'm having a hard time justifying the money for it, hence why I haven't bought it, but it looks so good. I bought my Inno one for this season on amazon for $82.

Got one on Saturday. It's worth it if you plan on using it. I ski/snowboard daily after work so it was worth it.

As far as I know, the FatCat can only use the universal clamps that they come with which can clamp to just about any type of crossbar.

That local "bro" set me up with the exact same bars and bike rack. Best part is how easy it is to throw the bike up there and just go, no taking your wheel off or anything. It just slaps on up there, the rear of the rack clamps down and youre golden. It does allow for the hatch to open which is why its sitting a little over the front more. I LOVE IT! He ordered me slightly smaller bars like he has and I love how it doesnt stick out too far on the sides. You can't however fit the snow racks and bike rack on at the same time. I tried

But is it any better than any of the other snowboard racks?

So i just installed my OEM Crossbars, the Subaru Snowboard rack, and the INNO fairing. I noticed that there is still a significant whistling sound even after installing the INNO fairing. Anyone else having this problem? Its on a 2011 wrx sedan
Does anyone have any suggestions to make that quieter, or eliminate it completely?

I had an 09 sedan with the oem rack and never noticed noise with or without a fairing on but now with my '11 sedan I hear it all the time. I assumed it was bc I have the Thule setup with aero bars but idk. I think you really just gotta deal with it. Turn the music up

uhg! I even think the whistling got worse AFTER i put the fairing on. Turning the music up makes the doors rattle! AHH all these noises are driving me nuts. haha ;D
Ill try and mess around with it. By some miracle, maybe ill find a fix.
Thanks for the reassurance that its the car and not me installing something wrong. haha

It was more of the adjusting part that im having issues with..its sitting good in the middle but the sides still dont sit down on the windshield like they should. I also had to mount the bars that come with it on top of the rack as opposed to below it. I also used yakima mighty mount, which arent made for the OEM rack...so the dremel came out to play...

On another note, and sorry if this has been answered, but i was curious what the best ski/snowboard rack was for the price for an OEM rack. I need to be able to get 4 snowboards on it and have been looking around and they all seem to be right around 150- 200$, thule, yakima, and subie. Just wondering what everyone's experience was with them. I'm not a fan of the fatcat and guess my choices are the big powderhound, or the univeral flat top @189 from thule or the subie one for 150$ but doesnt say it has a lock....Is there anything else i should be looking at??

Thanks.

I ran the Big Powdergound on my stock Wagon crossbars... But then switched up to a set of Railgrabs because they were a bit sturdier, and were a little higher (could put my boards with bindings down)... This year I'm planning on running the snowboard rack attached to my LoadWarrior basket.

This is with the Railgrabs, but you get the idea.

I have a feeling that most people would suggest going with a cargo box instead of just a rack, especially when you're trying to haul 4 boards + equipment for 3-4 people.
