Default Totaled my rex--got paid off

Well unforunately my rex died, but I lucked out. I paid 24,543 bucks for my rex. After I wrecked...the insurance company valued my car..with 7000 miles on it..at 24 grand. The payoff on my lease was 23,100, so the insurance company sent me a check for 900 bucks. I didnt put anything down, and made only 3 payments on the car which was 365x3. So I paid 1080 bucks to drive the rex for 3 months, then got 900 of that back. I pretty much lucked out--except I broke my knee, had surgery, and cant walk for 6 more weeks. So I guess I'll have to buy a 2003 now..if my insurance company is forgiving. By the way...Iwrecked because I ran over a large nail with the front right tire, made a turn...couldnt control it, hit the curb, then a couple trees. Tire totally blew out from the nail, and the rim broke in half from the impact with the curb. Pics soon!

Drive safely, but have fun doing it!!

hey--maybe if everyone wrecks their cars--the insurance will be so high that 16 year olds wont be able to afford to by WRX's, and then the WRX will never become a rice-eater. (Just a positive note to the rising insuance premiums).

BTW--to all the people that mention that I am raising the insurance rates for every rex owner...I have to pay the higher rates too so I'm not happy about it...and it was an accident...me crashing my rex does nothing to raise your rates...its the jackasses that get busted for speeding in the WRX that boosts the rates.

Well atleast its only 6 weeks. I was out for around 4 months. and this was just from a stupid wrestling accident, highschool wrestling too, not WWF and that crap. I was in a full leg cast for 2 months, than a last from under my knee to my toes for another 2 months.

Glad to hear you're OK. Good to know the REX held up again. However no more REX to drivew for you. Another REX crash, man this sucks seems like a new one every day. Insurance premiums are on the rise.

Glad your ok.

Mine was paid off too. Nothing broken but did the surgery bit. Going back to work in a few weeks.

Careful about calling people jackasses. I'm sure some moderators have gotten a ticket in their Impreza WRX.

Hey Im not saying I a super expierienced driver but .... damn screw it why dont you shut up. I have my opinions and you have yours lets leave it at that. Let me reword what I said If you lack driving experience please do not purchase a WRX purchase a basic performance vehicle. Iam well aware that accidents happen to all of us, even me. I overcoked a corner once and ended up highcentered on a curb acctually pretty funny.

Wow guys, pull that stick outta whatever opening it's buried in and chill out. There is absolutly no need WHATSOEVER to be going off the handle about ANY of this. People crash WRX's, right? Well, people crash Geo Metros too, but I don't see you crying out for the insurance premiums of others. Accidents happen, so be a little more understanding and do please think before you flame.

As to the poor guy who started this thread, I'm sorry to hear about your injuries and Sube... good luck with your recovery

Imprezer: please come close this thread before there is a club lynching

Nice--you did it in a "non-performance" car--so maybe you shouldn't be driving any type of car.

Damn, IBTL

Some people need to grow up... Your going to be in an accident sooner or later, its the facts of life and the odds of statistics. Face it, then get a life and move on.

Geez

Bummer man.

front-tire blowouts er, blow.

rear-tire blowouts? They're no biggie.

<--- 90mph blowout, no damage, no wreck.

Also, Automobile or C&D tested a Vette on the autobahn and got a flat upwards of 130 with no ill effects. But that was years ago.
Every situation is different.

And hoping that people will wreck and push rates up doesn't keep WRXs out of 16 year old's hands. When mom and dad make enough money and neglect their kids, they'll throw unlimited amounts of money in the form of cars, TVs, clothes, as a substitute for good parenting.

What you really want to do is make it affordable so the kids can buy them themselves, and actually work for it, respect it.

WOW, the tire just popped like a balloon!? That's amazing. I've been so lucky. I worked around construction sites for years, I'm the king of nails in tires. I've never been so unlucky though. That's simply amazing that your tire just popped. What tire pressure were you running? 100 PSI? 150? Oh, wait. Just reread your post. It was a LARGE nail. Yeah, that'll do it every time. How big was it? Like a railroad spike?

Chris has a point though. For example, when Dodge let mortal employees take the Viper home, too many of them got wrapped around trees.

The car is affordable power and unfortunately some (not all) people have a better concept of money and not power.
