Default PCV Valve location

Hey guys,
I've been wondering since I replaced my pcv valve on my BE. Where is it supposed to be located, on the block or on the intake manifold? Reason being when I replaced the valve, I was expecting it to be on the manifold like in the writeups I've seen - it wasn't. The end end of the pcv line was there and the valve itself was on the block. So I replaced the old one with the new in that spot... I'm hoping I haven't been running a backwards system

mine is on the right side of the manifold (03 impreza). if you remove a fitting that rattles when you shake it, it's probably the valve. One end has threads and the other has barbs, with a 17mm or 19mm (if I remember correctly) wrench needed to remove it.

right now the valve itself is on the block like the valve it replaced; not on the manifold like all of the other references I looked at. I got this car used so I don't know if the valve was replaced and they put it on the wrong spot, or if subaru did it originally.

I'll put the valve on the manifold and see if that does anything .

well, the whole point of the PCV valve is to relieve pressure in the crankcase and put it back through the intake...so I don't understand the whole block thing at all...

On your car it's on the engine block!
