Default Iceland, Iceland, Baby...

...dun dun dun dun da da dun dun...

So, the girlfriend and I are considering a trip there next spring or summer. Any suggestions or tips? We're particularly into the natural beauty aspect of it, but if we go in the spring we'll only have 4-6 hours of daylight to enjoy it. However, that's also apparently when the aurora borealis is pretty active. So it's got that going for it.

Thanks for any feedback!

P.S. Didn't search, door of dicks, etc.

It's awesome.

Landscapes like you wouldn't believe.

Smells of sulphur a lot of the time.

The weather can be mixed.

You need a good off-road vehicle for the whole experience.

People aren't very friendly.

You can camp anywhere.

Did I mention it's awesome?

Oh and I think there's a thread already.

It isn't Greenland. Those silly Vikings and their changeling island naming.

I think you meant to say Wikings.

The wife and I both loved Iceland when we went a couple years ago. Beautiful country and they party like animals in Reykjavik.

Protip: Enoy the N. Lights but don't forget to bring a tripod. 5 minute exposure times don't work too well without a tripod.

Protip 2: Bring a flashlight, setup camera w/ long exposure time (focus set to infinity), open shutter, step in front of camera at a decent distance, have someone shine the flashlight on you and you partner in a sweeping motion, turn off flashlight and step out of the picture.

When it's done you will get a picture of you and yours with the N. Lights.

Because it's a pretty inexpensive vacation and it's great.

<- went last april. Had a great time w/ a tour we thought was going to be a ho hum bus tour that ended up being us w/ a crazy guy in a old range rover driving through rivers and right up to glaciers.

10/10 would do again and honestly thinking about a short trip again next year... because it's pretty cheap... and fun.

The food though is pricey.

If you need help setting up tours and stuff, tell Omar at icelimo luxury travel I sent you (or hit me up here and I can put him in touch with you). He literally runs the place, can get kick ass arrangements going.
