I run at 40plus on the street and 50psi at autocross in the front. Rear I run 40psi all the time.

35-40 psi is a good starting range. Then work around there. If you're too low, they'll feel squishy. If you're too high, they may get bouncy and/or start riding up on the centers of the tire(leading to a light steering wheel feel and some twitchy handling). You find the happy medium. I've never run those tires, but in general, this is what you do.

40ish...........just keep looking for that sweet spot. It's a soft sidewall, but the tire is just fine for daily driving, and some fun times at the autox courses, just don't expect anything else...............heard they work in the snow.

Not even the same class of tire. The 512's ae all season will not have the grip of a S03.

For all season tires they are fine. They work better than many tires and are reasonably cheap. They don't really function as a performance tire, but thye were not designed to. I run low 40's in mine, but am still playing with the pressures. I have 235 45 17's.

Cool

Girlfriend has them on her 330 XI and they are NOT a very good winter tire. I know the AWD system in the Bimmer is not as good as the Subie but her car was not fun at all last winter. We are currently looking at throwing some Kook Ice Bear on for this winter. They worked great on my car.

Last I heard they were the #1 consumer best buy tire, for 80 some bucks a piece I don't think you can get a better tire for the price.

yep- consumer reports liked them so I got them. A good V-rated, low price, all-season, with pretty good, predictable handling- way better than the stock Bridgestones, and better than the Conti Extremes, which I also tried.

I run the PSI in the doorframe- wouldn't that be ideal in relation to the suspension?

im using them, they feel much better for daily compared to all the ultra summers and summers i've used. Can't really push them.

Im running low 40 on mine.

I ran these on the Baja.

Mine were good in the snow, good in dry tons of grip, pretty good in the rain, but damn did they ever wear out fast. For an all-season I expected more treadlife. And they got all feathered on the edges. Crap.

I was really happy with my Falken Azenis which is why i got these, but the ziex 512 was a bad choice. I am never listening to Consumer Reports again.

I switch to cheap t-rated Kumhos and they are way better, beleive it or not.

I just ordered a set of 215/45R17 for $62 each at edgeracing.com For a daily driver that will see some snow and for the price I think these should be good. I was thinking about getting toyo proxes 4, but they were $20 more and I think they would be terrible in the snow.

I loved my 512's. That being said, mine were nearly corded on the insides in about 15,000 miles. Alignment was done twice in the 8 months I had them, and was considered in spec both times. I'm trying a set of Kumho Ecsta ASX's now.

Considered to be in spec is not anywhere near correct. Your alignment was off for sure.

Don't doubt it at all. They aligned it again for free and gave me half off of the new tires. I do notice the car no longer hunts grooves in the road since the new alignment specs, and that was even with the old tires.

Mine were corded when I bough my 451's. The tires are extreamly soft. I would have the pressures up around 40 for street driving and the sidewalls would still roll over. For what it is though, it's a great inexpensive tire.

I'll tell you what. They grip a heck of a lot better than re92's do. I think the treadwear on the re92's is a lie. According to the treadwear rating the re92's should be much stickier yet the falkens feel like they have so much more grip
Great for a cheap tire. I'd buy em again.

My ZE-512s are also feathering noticeably on the inner and outer edges of all 4 tires. I've got around 12K miles on them and that's got me a little concerned. Falken probably figures they don't have to make the internals robust since most people will wear them out before that becomes an issue!

Otherwise, they've been pretty decent.

the treadwear on the re-92's are defently a lie....... 80,000km (and almost 3 years) on my sister's stock re-92's and they still have another 35%-40% or so remaining..... dang... why can't they just wear out!

looking at some of these falkens. The tires are falken 512's and only have about 4k on them. They are 225/40/r18 size. The wheels are 18x7.5.

the guy is asking 600 for the wheel and tire combo. Is this a good deal? How are these tires in the snow?

Im in Missouri. We do get some snow here.....do you think i would be ok with just going with some new stockers? Funds are limited

Again, according to CR, the 512 was average in H-rating and below average in V-rating for snow traction. I use them on my Miata but it doesn't see snow so I can't provide real world experience.

Exclamation These Tires Can Handle "All Seasons" Except For Winter

I thought I could use these tires in the snow, but my dented rear door says otherwise.

These are all season tires with a strong summer bias. THESE ARE NOT SNOW TIRES. Be very careful driving in the snow with these tires. I have almost gotten stuck several times in 6" of snow.

They are much better than the stock tires in dry and monsoon conditions. They have very good hydroplane resistance, and they break away very predictably in dry conditions.

They have a very soft sidewall, and the edges feather quickly. 35-40psi all around should work well.

These tires are louder than stock, but it is tolerable.

Overall: Great tire for the money with excellent dry and wet traction. Can be used in snow, but with extreme caution. Overall I'd give these tires a "B" because of the poor snow traction and soft sidewall.

Other tires I would look at would be the goodyear triple tread for true all season performance. How does that tire compare?
