Default Headlight socket

A while back when i first bought my car, i made a very noobish move and bought cheap HID looking bulbs for my 2.5i. About 4 months later, it went out and when i went to replace it, the entire socket that it was housed in was melted! I managed to scrape most of the damaged plastic out, so now the socket is pretty much metal. If i brought this problem up at my dealer, would they be able to replace it? It still works, and im running sylvanias in it now, but im just not comfortable with it still in. Does anyone know?

well it would be up to them since they could say the hot sylvania bulb melted the harness/socket.

Do you have a stock bulb you can put back in? I don't justify acting dumb but we have seen sockets melt with just the stock bulbs in there. You can inform them the bulb went out, you replaced it and saw the condition of the socket and brought it in. Only state the basics.

Of course the dealer can replace it. Just don't expect them to do it for free.
