Unhappy Rental Car question...not subie related.

While my car was in the shop, I had the punk's Insurance Company pay for a rental for me. Now, they (Enterprise)asked me if I wanted extra insurance for the car I was renting, and since I didn't want to get into anymore accidents, I agreed...
NOW... I rented this beast for 7 days, USAA Insurance ended up paying $200 or so for the car, but I ended up paying $103 for the rental tax, extra insurance, and of course, the $21 for the gas fill up before returning the car. Is this something that the insurance company should dish out since, duh! If it wasn't for the stupid policy holder hitting me in the first place, I wouldn't even have to go through this mess. So here I am paying $100+ and the gas I had to fill up at the end... such inconvenience. I know I know, I being really cheap about this, but hey, this would've never had to happen right?

How would I battle this? Any suggestions?

Next time don't get the insurance... I did the same thing when that dumb girl pulled out in front of my jeep. I made her insurance pay for a brand spanking new RAM 1500 4x4 for my rental though. That was nice.

I had a rental car for 41 days while they fixed my car. All paid by the other persons insurance. Most insurance policies include a max ammount per day that they will pay for a rental car. I think mine is like $46 a day. As long as you stay under this they pay the whole thing, if you choose an option (upgraded car, insurance) that puts you above that ammount, you have to pay it. You could talk to them about it, but I think you are stuck.

(Most of you don't know this)
Megan's car was stolen three days ago.

(And now the "our insurance" stuff)
Pemco is paying up to $20/day for her rental car, up to a total of $450 (do the math and it works out to 13.5 days)... She's currently paying $4/day plus gas for the rental because $20 will only get a geo metro, she wanted something she could actually fit in and upgraded to (bleh) a Neon.

The dumb thing about this is Pemco won't give us money either until the car is recovered or 30 days after the theft, whichever comes first.

So.... *** is she supposed to do in the meantime? :P

Insurance companies are stupid.

But I think AAA may cover her for a few extra days on her rental.

Okay - Here's the scoop.

1. You didn't need the insurance (your insurance policy covers you - I know your policy well).

2. The gas is your expense - you would've paid for the gas in your Scooby, anyways (what, you want them to pay for a week of free transport? No Kewpie doll for you). so you're out of luck there.

Be thankful that the other insurance company paid for the gas during your rental. You could have suckered them by getting pre-paid gas, where you just return it empty.

Sorry - you lost this time.
Next time, don't pick a luxo-car. I'll lend you my rice-killer (just ask, for pete's sake!)

Back in May of last year a girl turned into me in an intersection and put me in a rental car for two months. I reserved a car and when I got there they were out of the class I requested and they upgraded me to a grand am. I hate GM but it wasn't bad. Anyhow, the insurance company would reimburse me for up to $25 a day. I spent $22.50. I didn't take the extra insurance though 'cause I couldn't afford it. I'm not sure what to think about the extra insurance thing. I know you need to check with your insurance company to see what they cover. I've also heard rental companies threaten that if you do wreck their car you have to pay for the cost of downtime on that vehicle (I've only heard that once at an Enterprise in Michigan). So I just don't know what to think of it all.
