Thumbs up STI swap in Irvine free beer and bruised knuckles!

Hey everybody...
I'm starting an 05 STi-> 04 wagon swap sometime around the 7th of December. If anybody wants to come by and lend a hand (possibly cuz you want to do the same to your wagon!) I would be more than happy too oblige with copious amounts of free food and beer (although not if you can't turn a wrench after a beer ) and of course, I would return the favor should anyone request it. Heck, I'd love to cut you a deal on the parts I'm gonna be getting rid of off the wagon if you'll help me take them off. I've never done a Subaru swap before, but I have done an 87 mustang 5.0 into an 85 Volvo bertone, which was pretty involved. That being said, I (hopefully) have all the tools and gusto (not experience ) to do the swap, I just need a few helping hands along the way. That of course is where the leigions of subaru gear-heads found right here on nasioc come in.

I live in Irvine, CA (this is starting to sound like a personal ad... ) and plan to swap between the 7th and x-mas. I know, its a busy time, but It's the only time when I can have 3 unmolested weeks to tear into my WRX.

So, if you think you would want to help, shoot me a reply or pm. Cheers!

I just did a driveway 05 sti complete drivetrain swap into my 04 wrx. It was pretty easy... just consumed a lot of time and a few stressful obstacles.

I would be more then happy to give you advice/info. as well as a helping hand (excluding lifting the tranny in and out )

The tranny aint no thing with two or more people (two to left tranny, one to push on the engine). I did my WRX tranny twice and the STi box solo.

I've helped with pulling motors and whatnot when I worked in a shop... I can try to come out and lend a hand to a fellow subie owner... but I got finals comming up until 12/13.

Default Bad News...

Sorry I haven't gotten back to everybody...
Well, among other things that could've gone wrong last week, the hot water line bursting under my garage floor was definitely not the type of hangup I expected . The coldest week in a while and I've got no hot water ; at least I quit paying rent ! The house is now teeming with plumbers, drywallers, mold investigators...not really condusive to a bunch of "subaru enthusiasts" spreading car bits all over the place. So, the swap is going to have to wait. I just might have found a great deal on the parts though...So it is still definitely in the works. Perhaps just the 6mt swap for now and hold off on the power untill I teach my dumb ass not to come into turns too fast and plow into storm drains...
Thanks for the response everybody!
