Unhappy Alternator problems

Hi there,

anyone out there have any problems with their alternator starting to make this whining sound. I was stuck in a major traffic jam going from San Diego to LA and it started to whine after that. I was running the AC and stuff. I took it to the local dealer and they notice I had two sets of driving lights underneath. He said that the warranty is void on the Alternator b/c of the "excessive load" that the lights are pulling.

Any advice as to how valid that claim is..

Wow. I guess that SoA could invoke the "excessive load" clause on most aftermarket sound systems, too. I think your generator is rated at 90A (75A for the WRX). I would point out that you've never exceeded that figure, or I would ask them to demonstrate (i.e. "proove") that you HAVE exceeded that figure.
