Default openECU tools on an EcuTek ECU?

I have an EcuTek flashed ECU. I'd like to be able to scale my injectors and MAF, then make the drive to my tuner, where he could then make my final map with EcuTek. Is there any reason why I can't do this?

Ecutek started "locking" out the ecu about a year ago. So, you won't be able to read or flash the rom if you have had a tune within this period.

You can go to OpenECU.org or activematrix.com and DL'd the ECUunlocker program.

Last time I checked that worked with Evos only and several people who tried it with Subarus still were locked out. Unless he's recently changed something.

This is a very interesting point. I am actually running a ECU which is not my original, so the license could well be one of the older versions which is unlocked.

Pardon my ignorance, but with a tactrix cable, and the OpenECU tools, I could confirm this?

I would also like to know, as I have an ecutek tune and want to get into open source tuning. I got retuned last month but I'd like to be able to adjust wg duty and other settings for the climate in new orleans. how can I make use of the free software with my setup?

as has been stated, if you were reflashed with ECUTEK in the last 12 months approx. then your ECU has been locked out, so the open source tools, as well as the dealer ECU tools (including other flashing tools from people like Cobb), won't be able to read the ECU at all. You can confirm this by trying the ECU read function in the ECUFLASH program with the Tactrix cable, if the check engine light just continues to blink and the fans cycle then most likely your ECU is locked out.

If you got ECUTEK'ed last month, then it's 100***37; definately locked out. If you had your ECUTEK done over a year ago, then it's possible that you *may* be able to read it.

The ECUUNLOCK program ONLY works with the Mitsus.
