Default Subaru (New) Select Monitor

I read recently in the forums that Subaru Select Monitors (or New Select Monitors as the new ones I think are called) can be bought for a "reasonable" price. "Reasonable" being less than the many thousands of dollars I thought they went for. Does anyone know where 1) I can get one 2) and cheap? Also, for those who have the NSM, is it worth it? I don't suppose it can write to the ECU as well. Wishful thinking. Thanks for your help.

I received your PM and have been looking for the info on this. At one point last year they were avail. for a "special price" of about $700 for the NSM alone. The standard price from Kent-Moore is $1850 for the complete kit (cartridges, cables, etc.). A subsidiary (I think) of Kent-Moore in Canada called Blue Streak also offers a general use cartridge to read OBDII in other cars, but I haven't tried it.

The amount of data from this instrument is unbelievable but, no, it will not write to the car as available.
