Default egt ?

I have my tactrix cable, stage two map, and wideband o2 sensor. I was wondering if i can just keep the stock egt sensor and use laptop datalogging in real time to watch my egt's.

Not really. The stock EGT sensor is too far away from the cylinder to have any real value. It was put there by Subaru to monitor the health of the sotck uppipe cat.

The value you would read could be 200-300F low.

Your best bet is to watch A/F ratios or install an EGT gauge with the probe directly near the exhaust valve. Plenty of threads on that.

will i have to get rid of the stock egt sensor when i put a catless uppipe in? I have read that the probe on the stock sensor is very weak and could burn up and go into my turbine! Also what would you say would be my best bet for keeping everything safe wideband o2, egt, or knock? I can't afford all right now and i am using a premade map, i am not really playing around with tuning myself just yet i want more background before i start that.

Its a good idea to get rid of it. I'm not sure how real the danger is but there is some to leaving it in.

Also, if you can only afford one, my recommendation would be to get the WB02 first.

Bolt to plug the uppipe egt bung: $2
New turbo: $150
Not having to troubleshoot a blown turbo: Priceless

Do yourself a favor and get rid of the stock EGT sensor as soon as you get a catless uppipe.
