Default I'm a total newb- Bleeding/reflashing my ECU?

Well I've read as many manifestos as I can and I'm still a bit confused.

About a month ago I got borla header + Greddy CBE. In all of unabomber's threads it says resetting the ECU never hurts, and all I have to do is disconnect the negative wire (?) and press the break for a few seconds.

What are the advantages of doing this and why would I want to? I'm also worried about a subaru dealership seeing my reset ECU when it goes in for service; but then again, they'd see the mods anyways.

When I do bleed my ECU, do I have the keys turned in the ignition?

Resetting the ECU changes some of the learned parameters back to what they were originally flashed to. IAM goes to 8, Fuel trims goto 0***37;, and all boost learning is reset as well. The reason is because at these settings you are less likely to have problems, if everything is ok they'll go back to their original settings over time. Since you've got a RS, you probably don't need to reset the ecu since you'll only affect IAM and Fuel trims.

Fuel trims update very very fast, within 2 minutes of starting the car in my experience. It couldn't hurt to reset it, but it also may not help anything either. Some do it, some don't, both are fine in the end.

To properly do it, disconnect the battery and get in the car and hold the brake pedal down. This will bleed off excess charge through the brake lighting system, I'd turn on the ignition just to make sure everything is drained.
