Big 3

Big 3 Stock battery and terminals..

Big 3 Stock Amp connection and 150A fuse

Big 3 Engine to Chasis

Big 3 Battery to Chasis

I need to fix those peeling tapes...
I am happy with the current voltage stability
Next upgrade is to wire Bass knob, which I have purchased already, to mount the tweeter (back ordered XT19), and to upgrade the sub (SW300 possibly... but I was told that a new Lotus Sub will be available in this summer )

Nice job, looks ALOT cleaner than my job, but I tend to half ass the looks and just look for results

What were the terminals used so that others may jot it down somewhere when they plan to do this?

Congrats

~Levi

P.S. - eventually you will probably see the battery drop down to 13.9 on long drives, that is fine. The idea is to stop the massive voltage drops to save the alternator, battery, etc... Glad your happy with it

Not familiar with your equipment, what are you running RMS wise?

someone recommended me this website for good quality and inexpensive stuff

www.knukonceptz.com

I got all the materials from this place including battery terminals (about 12bucks each), 4g wire, a fuse and ring terminals for about 60bucks shipped. Also Dielectric grease from HomeDepot

I don't know what the exact RMS number is, but according to the amp specification, both amps make about 800W..

Yea, I definitely suggest using 1/0, I'm regretting it now. At the time I didn't have plans for a 1500+ watt system....

Ya, shrink wrap terminals/wires FTW! Heck, solder before hand, I didn't on mine and I'm thinking of redoing all the connections, because I think I have a loose somewhere due to recent voltage drops....that could be the new amp though.

i suggest AGAINST 1/0 for a big3 upgrade

because i have done it. you guys dont seem to realize EXACTLY how large 1/0 is lol. regardless, seeing as you're adding onto factory wiring, 4ga. should be MORE than enough for <1800w or so.

i ran a 1/0 feed from my battery to my fused distro block behind the back seat....and 4ga. from there....and even that was a huge PITA to get done somewhat stealthily.

I did the big3 this weekend using 4gauge as well. I'm seeing around 13.6-13.8v after the engine and alt warm up. That's with headlights on and AC blasting - running at about 1000rms.

I could only see a problem with the battery ground to the chassis, and also the cost of buying a terminal with 4 1/0 gauge inputs :P

EDIT: also, anyone who is planning on doing this shortly; Could you take pictures of the battery as stock batter, engine block to chassis, and alternator please?

Need it to finish a 'certain' thread

~Levi

two wires (4g for amp and 12g for HU) are running through the driver side bottom firewall. So the power and remote wire to the amp run through driver side, and RCA and speakers wires are in the passenger side.. *sigh* and after connecting all the wires I read somewhere that the antena cable is in the driver side. So far I have not noticed any big problem with antena reception.. Well, I don't listen to the radio that much but NPR, which has pretty good reception.

the enclosure is from Audio Integration very nice product and very nice people to deal with.

I didn't go with 0/1 gauge because i didn't have any tools to cut.. beside my noobness, that's why it took me about 3hrs and fingers were hurting after Big3 even with 4gauge. and am too lazy to drive to audio shop to ask for the wire cut and ring terminal clamp job..
I am hoping that 4g will be good enough for my setup for many many years.

btw... lesson learned: dielectric grease is not compatible with the adhesiveness of the tape. but KY jelly has no effect on the tape after a good wipe. I am still amazed with the KY jelly's capability

OMG it's 12:55am.. Damn you, car-audio addiction

sweet! i didnt really know about the spot in the drivers side until recently. i have to put a bunch of stuff through the frewall in my car. i had it coming out on the passenger side but its too close to the turbo for my liking. i have a harness for my gauges, a harness for my txs wideband tuner, a harness for my dtec bc, a line for my meth kit, and i also have to put a 4 gauge wire through for my audio. im gonna have a 2 inch hole in fw by the time im done lol.
