Only connect them when flashing new ROMS, otherwise leave them disconnected.

it is not ok to leave them connected. Your car will not run as good as it is in diagnostic mode.

if you start the car with the test connectors plugged in your CEL will blink. its a nice warning that you forgot to do something (which i did once)

I have had the green ones connected for the past 2,000 miles. You will get that blinking cel if you leave the jumper block plugged in.

I just hooked them all up to one switch. I got tired of climbing under the dash every time I wanted to flash my car. Now I just flip a switch, and flash it!

Ooops, I meant the other way around. I leave the jumper plugged in all the time.

^^^ Not terribly hard, the Green Connectors only connect 2 wires together. You'd extend them to a switch and when switched it would be connected and vice versa. Just a simple 2 prong switch for DBW vehicles.

Right, I understand that but do you have pics of where you installed the switch, dremel anything, flashing lights, etc.

Oh, gotcha. Unfortunately, it is just tucked into the kick panel. I can reach it to flash with. Otherwise it is out of the way.

I didn't want all the kiddy's accusing me of having "Nawwzzz, Y0!!!1" 'cause they see a shiny toggle switch.

I see, is the switch attached to anything or is it just hanging up under the dash?

I've gotten good at just reaching under the dash with one hand and plugging and unplugging the connectors but I'm afraid that one of these days I may pull the wires out!

The switch is a good idea that I also have thought about and the NOS switch has also come to mind. I'm looking for the factory look in my switch, some where next to the fog light area.

Yep, just hanging there...well, tucked into the kick panel. I was never able to plug the test connector together without climbing under the dash, that's impressive.
I might consider putting it on the dash if I found a stock looking switch.
I want to add a switch to turn the boost control solenoid on and off as well (high/low boost).

It's on "the list".

I've got DBW so I only connect the switch instead of connecting the switch to an adapter and then having to disconnect it.

Tom, it's easy to wire up a switch to the connectors, I've been meaning to do it myself. All you need is a switch, some wire and a couple spade connectors to insert into the stock connectors. Does your STi have a blank plate next to the fog light/water spray switch?

Yeah it does. I also got a Radio Shack right down the street...shouldn't be more than a couple of bucks for this mod.

We should have done it last night after installing my downpipe and then taken pics for everyone to show them how easy it is.

Let me get a couple of extra blank plates for us to use just in case we mess one up. I'll also swing by Radio Shack and get some price checks.

Hey,

would someone be willing to write step-by-step instructions or at least point me in the right direction to put the switch in? I don't know anything about wiring, but I would like to do this.

Thanks

Chris

Drees has already installed his switch. I just bought mine from Radio Shack today. Drees should be coming over to my house Monday night to give me a hand on the install. After that we should be able to give you guys some better input on a how to guide.

Dave came by last night and installed my new switch. I dremeled it out myself and it looks factory and clean. When I find a camera I'll post some pics.

The install looked straight forward but drees may want to chim in on the materials that are required.
