Impreza GC8 Project Phoenix has begun!

Well, other than No stereo, I have what's left of my subi back. I'm going down to tucson tomorrow to pick up another good shell from Steve down at IA, trailer it back. Already started stripping the corpse. the chassis took alot more damage than I previously thought. I'll get some pictures up soon. 3 wheels are done, as far as i'm concerned, they're gonna be tables, and a spare tire/wheel. both front and rear subframes are toast, Only the left rear coilover is visibly damaged, and will need to get replaced, the trailing arms and lateral links are okay. Next week, all the real fun begins, more parts hunting, yay!! Hopefully, in a few months, the subi shall rise from it's ashes, like the mythical phoenix! (where I got the project name I know, kinda gay but f u if u can't take a joke! ) Will keep you all posted on the progress.

I did nothing to the car, It was physics at it's worst; 2 objects (read: car & curb) cannot occupy the same space at the same time.

And yes pat, This is going to be a race car.....kinda. I race all my cars! J/K
Right now I'm trying to figure out the best way to eliminate the sunroof, I'm thinking yank the motor and frame and weld it in and smooth it out before paint. It kinda has a cage in it, I'll see if it's up to par, and if it's worth salvaging, if not, I'm going to get a chrome-moly cage asap. Hopefully the stich-welding won't be a huge PITA, we'll see. I'm excited to see what kind of #'s it's going to put down and how the power curve will look after the new DP and other goodie I have waiting.

I have my old car almost completely boxed up, ready to to go in the new chassis, I've got alot of surface rust to deal with on some stuff.
I have the new chassis and title, and I'm going to finish stripping the old car tomorrow. Then, cut it up with a saw! I'm not sure how long it's going to take to clean up the chassis, but it looks to be in decent shape. If they're not too pricey, I may get a set of CF doors too. I'm going to yank the sunroof and weld it up. It shouldn't take too long, I just have to see how long it's going to take to get all the parts I need. I don't know what I'm going to do about the bent coilover, have to see what Tein is willing to do. Steve hooked me up with a rear subframe, I just have to get a front one now. I need a new driver seat, the sparco I have is too short for me.

I need a new steering rack, I might go with a quicker rack, or I'd need to find a complete STI rack and steering column. I'm going to use GD AL front A-arms, which will widen the front track a bit, should bring the wheels a little more flush with the do-luck front fenders, maybe allow me to fit wider tires without rubbing. eventually, I will widen the rear track as well, Using GD lateral links, and do the 22B complete wide body.
