Drive to tuner with 650cc's and 18g on my stage 2 Ecutek tune?
What do the Ecutek owners do about injector upgrades? Its times like these where I really wish I had a Accessport to load a map. I plan on installing an 18g and 650cc Injectors on my currently stage 2 vishnu tuned ecutek. I really prefer installing parts myself for peace of mind and savings.
Will I be safe to drive out of positive boost and at a low rpm to a tuner, say 45 miles away? Will my car even be able to roll on its own power after 650cc's are thrown in? Do tuners have any loaner ecutek ecu's for such occasions? (If not they should). It seems like such a hassle to get the tow truck out here especially if my car can make it safely on its own.

Sounds like a bit much.
If you try it, make sure to change the oil before you dyno it. Running that rich, you want to make sure there is no fuel in the oil before you romp on it. |

The ECU can pull a certain amount of fuel before it limits its fuel trims. You may be able to start and drive with those injectors but it will run very rich. As was stated, you probably should change the oil when you get there.

If you have an older Ecutek tune that is not locked (older than probably a year), you could get a tactrix cable and modify the injector flow scaling. $90 for the cable would be close to a tow and even though your ecu will be locked out after the tune, you could sell the cable and make back most of the expense, or keep it for logging if you don't have or don't plan on getting deltadash.

I'd be suprised if the car would even start.

GRD (Naperville, Illinois, decent reputation) suggested bringing the ecu in beforehand, getting a safe tune for new injectors, then reinstalling. Got an AEM stand-alone, won't be needing their services hopefully, but that would have been a start.
EDIT: would your neighborhood shop consider that an option...? Last edited by cellobro; 02-20-2007 at 10:38 AM. |

I'm either getting a tune from GT Motorsports or Harmon. I will give them a call and see if thats an option.
