Default 2007 WRX Stock ECU settings

Im getting a 07 WRX soon, but I have heard that the drive-by-wire system does not really push the car to its potential, and that it requires a ECU reflash to solve this. I noticed that Cobb has not released the accessport for the 07 wrx's yet, so are there any other solutions for remapping the 07? I looked into ECUtek but I only saw 07 STi, not WRX, I may just be blind.

So what exactly is the deal with the 07 DBW and default ECU map?

As far as I know the OpenSource tools can reflash 07 WRXs but not STIs. There is a long delay on the 04+ WRX between closed loop and open loop, also the DBW maps aren't very smooth either. Flashing to Stage 1 fixes these problems as well as increasing the power slightly. I reflashed a 06 STI on wednesday and the owner was very pleased with how much smoother power delivery was.

Enginuity has support for the 07 wrx, assuming you have the same revision that has been uploaded before. If not, we can easily add it. The 07 wrx is not the bitch that 07 usdm sti roms are. In fact, the 07 wrx rom is pretty much the same as the 06 wrx.

So, you'll need a tactrix cable $91 ( www.tactrix.com ), Ecuflash $free ( www.openecu.org ), and Enginuity $free ( www.enginuity.org ). If you don't want to tune yourself, some pro-tuners have begun using the open source tools, so check in your local forum.

Not true. There is no need to modify this map, imho.

The map you speak of has values for the DUTY CYCLE of the throttlebody motor. It isn't a gas pedal vs. throttlebody opening map like everyone thinks it is.

If you actually log the car, you will quickly see that the throttlebody opens to 100% under WOT.

It is not as agressive as the STI map though. All of the staged maps have modified the throttle mapping. Although not the most important factor in improving response, it does help to modify the throttle mapping. Going stage 1 and dialing out any knock you encounter definitely gets rid of any throttle lag.

These are values for duty cycle just like wall of tv's said, so when tuning the throttle map keep this in mind. It is not a 1:1 realtionship.

Yes, it is throttle motor duty and does not directly equate to throttle plate opening angle. I would imagine that changing the wrx/fxt/lgt throttle mapping to the sti mapping would result in slightly faster response, especially at WOT, but it does not change the throttle plate opening ***37; at WOT. Interestingly, though, the throttle [plate] opening % that you log will show 100% for a throttle opening of 95% or greater. Also, the throttle value that makes up the axis on a number of maps, such as boost and wgdc is not the throttle plate opening % or accelerator pedal opening %, but it a value from the tps sensor in which 84 represents WOT. This should be keep in mind when tuning these maps, which are usually scaled up to 80 from the factory which would represent 95% throttle plate opening %. I plan on adding this value to the logger xml in Enginuity in the future so users can have some way of logging this TPS value explicitly. It could be converted to throttle plate opening %, but because of the logger conversion, any value 80 and over would represent 100%, even though 80 represent 95%. Some non-usdm models have the axis scaled up to 83-84 so it would be more accurate to merely add the direct TPS value to the logger. Note: the axis on the throttle actuator duty map is not this TPS value, but is, in fact, one of the few maps that uses accelerator [pedal] opening %.
