Disabling P1446 with OpenECU
Okay guys, i used enginuity to disable the code, I flashed the ECM with the map then when i started the car it hard coded. Anyone have any input?
Trying to disable a P0851, P1446, P0546. It's time to pass emissions, if it's not able to be disabled anyone have suggestions as to a way around the code?

nevermind, turns out the code only shows thru ECUExplorer, all but 1 monitor are ready and no codes are stored. I can finally pass emissions.

hmm...I have this same code (p1446), and also have to get smogged this month...
I tried delting the code with the 05 0000 style defeat, which turned off the light, but still left a code as read in ECUexplorer So you mean the code doesn't show up on a normal scanner? I have a 2003 ECU in a 2002 WRX, for some reason I think this is the cause. I think the ECU is looking for a sensor that's not there...any input? |

ECUFlash + Enginuity FTW! p.s.: there was an EVAP system sensor added midyear to '03's so '02's and early '03's won't have this sensor. p.s.s.: the Code no longer will show up as a temporary/pending/hard code |

Thanks for the info! I'll give it a shot, and check it with a handheld scanner to see what turns up. How can you tell the code is set if the ECU doesn't store or display it? Also, how long did you drive the car before taking it to get tested, the code usually doesn't until after a few startups, but then the readiness tests won't complete?

the code showed up when just using EcuExplorer but doesn't show up on any scan tools. I drove my car one day(about 40 miles) with varied highway/city driving.
easiest way is to watch the monitors and as long as they all come back as ready(although the EVAP system won't) you should be able to pass with one monitor not ready. Might also help to post where you live at. |

CA
I'm not sure what the rules are for the readiness codes here...to be perfectly honest, I assumed that if the ECU got past that drive cycle, and didn't throw a code, the readiness test would be complete. Although in retrospect I don't know why I would even think that... |

not sure how CA will even react to that ECU in a '02. Is there anyone you can swap ECU's with for a few days?

FYI:
You can, in fact, flash an '02 ROM onto an '03 ECU. They are the same hardware so that's what I did. Of course, this made my P1446 go away completely |

right but if you want to stick with your current ECU ID all you need to do is disable the code
nice bump on a 2 month old thread |

True, but I don't think that would be a concern for anyone. I've contacted the BAR and they have no way of knowing anything about the image on the ECU.
Other than that, it's a simple matter of copy and paste in Enginuity. With the 02 ROM, one won't have to worry about pending readiness tests. I know, 2 months...just figured it could possibly help someone in the future. |
