Default 2006 WRX & STi scoop/splitter questions

Hi guys I have attempted to do my research on this topic but cannot come up with a straight answer, I've found conflicting information. I've read the "hood scoop fitment thread" and a few others.

Essentially I have a 2006 WRX. When I purchased it, it had an STi tmic on it but it still has the WRX splitter, it's noticeably smaller. My question is can I just buy an STi splitter and bolt it up to my wrx scoop or does it require an STi scoop. One thread I read said that the 2006/2007 WRX/STi scoops might be the same. Is this true? Any info is greatly appreciated! Thanks

You have to buy the splitter that matches the scoop. You can't just bolt any splitter into place.

The STi scoops are larger, so the splitter is taller.

Do a search on a Vendor site like RallySportDirect and look for both 2006 WRX and 2006 STi hood scoops/splitters and see what numbers match up

You'll get your answer faster

The 2006-2007 WRX and WRX-STI hood-scoops are the same in width and height.

As you correctly observed, the difference is with regard to the air-splitter and attached rubber bellow.

You effectively have two options:

1) buy an STI air-splitter and related bellow
2) drill holes into the existing WRX splitter (when removed from the vehicle) as they exist, but are covered by the 'WRX opening' and install a WRX-STI bellow --- this is what I did and was much more cost-effective than #1 above

Thanks man. The thing is visually the scoops looked the same to me from each model so I was a bit thrown off. Basically wondering like why wouldn't it fit

Thanks for the info man. That's what I thought. option #1 is what I was thinking of doing however option #2 sounds like the better idea. Can I purchase just the bellow from somewhere? I was under the impression it was all one piece but I'm probably wrong

Yes, I did as Big-E did. I replaced the bellows. Bought it on-line from Heuberger Subaru, or was it SubaruPartsOnline? One or the other
