Default fuel pump issue...

ok, so i have a walbro pump and ive had it for about 2 years now... i drove around all morning just fine, pulled into my driveway and let it set there for about 5 hours before i started workin on the intercooler pipes... i got all new couplers and T-clamps.. well when i go to turn then engine on i realized that my tank was empty and hardly runnin... i was able to make it to the gas station which is about a mile away, and i fill up.. car runs much better... anways, i go to walmart to get a few things and when i pull into the parking lot, i turn then engine off and i hear a humming comming from the rear of the car, it was my fuel pump... why would it continue to run even after i turn the engine off? im assuming that is what drained my tank ealier that day, so im curious if my pump is goin bad? or what? maybe someone here can point me in the right direction. thanks for your help!

Ryan~
