Default New WRX owner...and more praise for Subaru of Santa Cruz

Hi all,

Just wanted to introduce myself as a new Bay Area WRX owner, and add my name to the list of very happy Subaru of Santa Cruz customers! This past Sunday I picked up a blue WRX sedan from the great folks in Santa Cruz, in what had to have been the perfect car buying experience. I just called them up, they gave me a great quote over the phone, drove on down, and about an hour later I was the proud new owner. No hassles, no haggling, just great friendly service.

Not that I have to tell anyone here, but the car is awesome! I've been driving a heavily modified mustang, which is absolutely amazing on a race track, but with each modification growing less and less tolerable on the street. So, I decided that I need to make the stang a track only car, and occasional street terror, and pick up a nice practical daily driver. And what a daily driver it is!!!!! The break in period is pretty rough, but I've been easing my pain by making daily drives up Hwy 9. I still can't believe how great this car feels in the twisties. Even with the stock tires, it seems to have quite a bit of grip, and it handles the bumpy stuff with aplomb! All in all, I couldn't have made a better choice.

My only gripe is shifting into first. I noticed that it didn't feel right the moment I pulled out of the dealership. As soon as I got home, I did a search here and saw what a controversial topic it is. Well mine can only hit first when under about 5 mph (without double clutching). Not sure yet if I should talk to the dealer about it, or if I need to accept it as life with a Subaru. Either way it's kind of a bummer. Fortunately, I like everything else about this car so much, that I'll gladly live with it if I have to.

Anyway, sorry for the long post. Thanks for listening. I'm sure I'll be here quite a bit!

Awesome!!! My friend is going to be getting a black sedan next month most likely if not sooner from them. And I plan on getting a black wagon sometime early febuary.

As far as the 1st gear issue... my RS used to do that... never really bothered me too much, I just viewed it as a trait of the car. But you know what.. a little over a month ago I just got around to changing out the tranny oil with some redline 75 90 MTL and now I can put it into 1st at just about any speed. No joke! It still has some resistance compared to all the other gears.. but it does go and without and harsh syncro grinding noise. Something to think about.

Oh and have fun with your sweet ride!!!
