Default XPT Stage 2 Upgrade question

I can't believe I have had my Subaru almost 3 years now and I am JUST finding out about OpenECU! I am literally as excited now about flashing as I was when I first bought my Subaru.

My original goals were to bring the car up to Stage 2 with the proper parts and then buy an AP, flash it, and be done with it. I really was not planning on a custom tune, just running the OTS tune and being happy with it.

But now that I have found out about OpenECU and the XPT Stage 2 flash, I immediately ordered my Tactrix cable and began reading all I could about the flashing process.

My question is this, I already have my TBE and uppipe and panel filter. If I wanted to upgrade to an STi TMIC in the future would that be within the realm of the OTS XPT Stage 2 rom?

CN:

Have-
Stock ECU
3in TBE
STi Uppipe
Prodrive Y pipe
Drop in panel filter
94 Octane

Doing-
XPT Stage 2 Rom

Future upgrade-
STi TMIC, is it cool to run this later?

Thanks for the help!

Joe

Not 100***37; sure, but I think a larger IC = colder/more dense air, therefore running the same fuel maps would result in a leaner mixture.

Pretty sure you'd need to add fuel to your map once the bigger IC is installed.

good luck

It is the opposite. The better efficiency of the larger IC could provide lower air temperature but does not change the amount (mass air flow) of air going into the engine.

Colder air means provides more knock margin so you could actually use less fuel or more ignition timing.

I got my cable yesterday! 2 days to ship it from Seattle to Cincinnati!

I am going to pull my ROM tomorrow night and then start the tuning and flashing! Can't wait!

Got my ROM pulled, flashed a map, and then logged it. Anyone want to check it over for me?

Joe, if you've got a user on my Osecuroms forum go ahead and PM your logs over to me and I'll check them out. Make sure to get a log from 2000-WOT in 3rd gear with the desired logger settings. I'm going to be releasing a logger profile for Enginuity that will help with that as well. (ev8siv3 on osecuroms)

yea, like mentioned above fuel shouldnt need to be added. Because even if the new IC allowed a greater amount of air in, the MAF is still going to count how much is commining in and compensate with the propor fuel to match the target a/f number set in the ecu. And yes, denser air can run less fuel and more timing!!

I am running a stage 2 xpt map with an STi IC and no problems so far. The STi IC is not of a greater size then the stocker to net a noticeble gain in cooling. The bigger IC makes it up in a lower pressure drop. It will not negatively effect the mapping and the ecu is more then capable of compensating. Man you subie guys are edgy about tuning....I have heard people talk about tuning for an intake. Over in toyota world we would run 25% larger injectors and let the ecu learn...lol.

And that is part of the reason why we are squeezing more out of our cars most of the time....and because tons of ppl here use FREEEEEE software

Hey Turboge! How did it go with the XPT MY04 FXT flash? You were saying that the map seemed pretty well tuned from the factory...

The FXT has a nice map to begin with, but needs a GM BCS for futher tuning.
Once we get the BCS on there I will hook up the WBo2 to verify the stock map.
