Talking OT - advice about relocating to canada

Howdy all -

I live in the states and was wondering if you guys had any input regarding someone relocating to Canada, specifically the Vancouver area.

I am a sofware geek, so I would be looking for tech companies in that area. Anyone know of anything? This most likely would not happen for a couple of years. However, being an anal engineer, I like to plan in advance. Thanks.

Diz, In Vancouver, there are a few large tech companies that are expanding.. The one that comes off my head is Ballard Power Systems. TRIUMF, the research facility outside UBC and EA and there are a few more that I can't remember rite now.. Lots of R&D and Software development are done in Richmond and Annacis Island too..

There are tons... The best way is perhaps getting in with a company that has offices both in your location, and here in Vancouver. Then they can pay for your relocation, etc.

Here's a list of places just off the top of my head: Nortel, Sierra Wireless, MDSI, Motorola, Seagate... There is a hi-tech industrial area in Richmond, and a lot of companies are downtown too.
