Default Saturday AM Hill Country Cruise...review

Just thought I'd give a brief update of the "Saturday AM Hill Country Cruise"...

Total time from the Y in Oak Hill and back about 2.5 hours. Take 290 west for ~30 minutes, turn left onto winding unpaved road, about 3 miles down you drive thru a creek, then a bit of twisty fresh asphalt, back onto gravel, thru farmland (no fences, only cows to watch for) This stretch is just beginning to be developed so the fun factor will soon be diminished.

Into Blanco and out onto another winding county road with VERY LITTLE traffic so early in the AM. Rolling hills, 1.5 lane wide sinuous pavement, onto graded dirt, thru a couple more creeks, back to pavement. It has everything that you could want in a fun drive.

It could be done in much less time, but it was my first time on some of these roads. I really prefer to get way out of Austin for this type of thing, much less traffic!

One day I'd like to take a bunch of you on a 'tour', provided we get an *early* start. I'd rather not post the names of the roads, but if you want them PM me. And get yourself a copy of 'The Roads of Texas' map book, it has every road in Texas in it, including the unpaved county roads that are so much fun.

I'm on my way to Beautiful Beaumont til tuesday, merry christmas and be safe!
