Default Tunning help please

Hello,
I have a 04 STi with a K&N intake, turbosmart bpv, perrin divorced DP, perrin EBCS, perrin crank pulley, & a Invidia CBE. Running 91oct. I was tuned but really saw no gain so me and my brother are trying to learn about tuning our cars. I am kinda new to turbo cars but my brother is not. He just does not know too much about Subaru tunning. We would like to know what needs to be adjusted and what does not, also how much it needs to be adjusted. Please when you post what needs to be adjusted, post why it needs to be adjusted and what it does. We just want to learn a little bit more before we really do the reflash.

Thanks you for any post.

Open source tuning is very powerful, just as good as Cobb or ECUtek.

I am currently tuning a friend's (forsfed25) '05 STI stg2 running 19 psi.

Download the Enginuity software, buy a Tactrix cable (http://www.tactrix.com) and do lots of reading here and on Enginuity.

Log your cars performance before making any changes.

Don't be afraid to ask questions as there are many of us here and on Enginuity that have been self-tuning for a while.

I use the enginuity software regularly. I have a "stage 1" type map that I have made about 10 revisions to. Right now its working well, but there is always room for improvement. That is the key to open-source tuning. It is NOT a "set and forget" reflash deal. It requires effort on the part of the user to try to learn and understand what they are doing before entering into the realm of reflashing. Granted, there are stage 1, stage 2 etc. maps out there that seem to work well for people. The biggest issue is that these maps are basically generic or designed on one car for that particular cars optimum performance. Variables change with fuel availability, geographic location, modifications and condition of vehicle. So "Map A" that works awesome on "Bob's '04 wrx" may or may not work with the same results on "Greg's '04 wrx".
Enginuity is a tool that allows you to actively communicate, or at least see what your car is doing. You can monitor timing, boost, air/fuel ratios etc.. etc..all of which play a role in how your car is performing. It should be used with a great respect for the damage that can be done by a user that has not taken the time to understand at least the basics of tuning.
There is quite a large community out there that uses this program successfully. The enginuity website is also a tremendous source of information and answers. It should be noted as with any forum that educated questions recieve educated answers. This is where your effort in learning will take you a long way. Good luck on your journey!
