Post WRX test drive...AT LAST!!

before I left L.A. I stopped by Irvine Subaru hoping for a test drive. I did! The guy there was very nice, the place was packed with people and the lot full of WRX. I got a 15 minutes test drive of a manual silver sedan. AWESOME! I come from a 98 talon tsi with 3" cat-back exhaust, so it's saying a lot! The best suprise, the sound of the turbo! Much better than my talon, must have something to do with the fact that you're seating "closer" to the engine, as opposed to the talon. Acceleration is very linear, that's what I love about AWD! It does lag a little bit under 3k rpm, but nothing like some post here may have suggested. This car feels rock solid on the road, even thought it feels like I was seating in an SUV compare to my talon The seats are great and the driving position excellent! Brakes feels good and that turbo sound! man....

One last note, the interior DOES NOT LOOK CHEAP! I don't know what some guys here were talking about! It's not a Mercedes for crying out loud! How about that steering wheel! They had to pry me out of the car...

Ok, 3 more weeks to go, can't wait!

BTW, my 98 talon tsi is for sale, email me if interested!

sorry for the long post...

Matt, back in rainy/snowy country...

Thumbs up

Well, I'm jealous!

Can't wait to test-drive one myself! Though, in all honesty, my RS will be around until at least 2005.

Tell me, does the WRX exhaust sound like it does in the commercials? It's very throaty and deep in the commercials, almost like the RS with a good aftermarket exhaust...
www.toronto-subaru-club.com has linked the WRX commercials in case you haven't seen them yet.

if you look carefully at the commercial, they have the STi exhaust installed (on the blue WRX ad anyway...). However, it does sound pretty good, throaty and not annoying at all. The STi exhaust should improve the sound. Can't wait to get mine, 3 more weeks!

Forget the STI stuff, get the scoobysport backbox! You'll never regret it... Since you're always in California, contact Mike Shields from www.spdusa.com. He sells these are they are superb exhaust for any subaru...

I always see the UK guys running this setup... I don't know if he has one for the WRX yet but I wouldn't be surprised he has them on order already....
