Default Help!! Check Engine light on

My check engine light came on yesterday and I called Carter Subaru about it. They said that the gas cap might not be on tight. I tighten it up and still the light is on. My car is pretty new with only 13000 miles on it. All I have is a ganza flow intake and K&N filter. Will Carter void my warrenty because of that? I wondering if I should take the intake out before bring it in.

Is bigger than yours.

Take the gas cap off and put it back on. Carter told me not to worry about the CEL unless it was blinking.

My CEL went away after a day or two. I've been told that it goes away after X number of ignition cycles after correcting the problem. If it's bugging you, fix the gas cap then sit in the car for a half-hour turning the ignition on and off.

They shouldn't deny the warranty claim, but since an intake problem could theoretically trigger the CEL, you might want to swap the intake if you're going in to service.

i have had 2 CE lights in my 01 RS

1st one was the gas cap.
After going through a full tank of gas, it went away.

2nd was a bad coil....
i would give it a tank or so, then take it in if it doesnt go away.

if it's not blinking, and the car is running ok, you should be alright.

good luck
