Default ST* Imprezas... what do you weigh?

Some good 2.5RS weight stuff here already:
http://forums.nasioc.com/forums/show....php?t=1129591

I took the car to Andrewtech today to get it cornerweighted. I had gotten it aligned about a month ago, but at ride heights I didn't really want. I raised the car a half inch in the rear to see if it would help with the creaking noises I was getting over really harsh bumps and then forgot to lower it before getting it aligned. So I fixed that and took it in.

It's an 2003 WRX prepped for STX. Without me (165# or so) it weighed in at 3024. The left/right was exactly 1512/1512. Symmetrical AWD, indeed. Static F/R was 60/40. We lucked out. My eyeball height adjustments had put the car at 49.4% cross weight with me sitting in it, so we didn't have to do much

The curb weight is listed as 3085 for a manual sedan.

Stuff that makes my car heavier than a normal car:
-JDM STi wheels +8 (18# or so, about 2# heavier than the stockers, x 4 wheels)
-RE070's +24 (27# versus about 21# for the RE92's... 6 x 4)
-Cusco rear strut tower brace (5#?)
-Some gauges (3#?)
-OEM front lip, OEM rear lip, "big wing" (20#?)
-big ass front swaybar (5#?)
-auto-dimming mirror (?)
-armrest extension (?)
-H6 rotors (5#?)

So... total around 70 lbs heavier than stock... new curb weight 3155.

Stuff that should make the car lighter than stock:
-about 1/3 tank of gas -60 (minus ten gallons or so at 6# per gallon)
-no spare tire -26
-Koni/GC coilovers -8 (about 2# lighter a corner)
-Sparco Evos -?? (stock is ~44 lbs/seat)
-PC680 -16 (thanks Bigsky)
-Scoobysport axleback -5 (17# vs 22 (thanks Bigsky))
--edit: Stock muffler is 37 lbs? http://www.turbomagazine.com/tech/02...lts/index.html
-TurboXS stealthback ?? (catless TXS is 25# (threadid 661486) but mine isn't catless; dunno stock)
-Borla header -14 (10#... stock is 24 (threadid 661486))
-StopTechs allegedly -4 (1# each caliper and rotor, 2 sides)
-17mm rear bar -1 ?( stock was 20mm)

That's -137. The turboback and the seats I'm now questioning.

Anyhoo, just wondering what other people have measured with similar'ish mods.

thanks!
john

I think it was 3200 lb with a full tank of gas and a spare the last time I weighed her for a government-financed move. I've never weighed her in actual racing trim. It seemed heavy to me.

Is the official curb weight with or without options for the car? Also, is that with or without a tank of gas? Car options:
-Auto-dimming mirror
-Extended armrest
-Premium sound system w/subwoofer
-Wing weight
-Car alarm & associated wiring (security system option I think it's called officially?)

Don't know if these are considered part of the curb weight or not since they are 'optional.' That might be part of your 50# mystery. Furthermore, I don't remember what other options there might be for the car. You sure on the weight differences on the seat changes?

I can "find" a few lbs for you- gas is closer to 6 lbs vs 7

http://www.santacruzpl.org/readyref/...gasoline.shtml

that could account for ~ 10 lbs

the 680 w/ terminals is 16 lbs, the stocker 32 lbs- so a 16 lb savings, not 20, another 4

as Biggly points out some of the options could weigh in on things, the subwoofer is probably in the 10 lb range if you have it

the scoobysport muffler should be closer to 5 lb savings 17 vs 22- ofcourse that's going the "wrong" way looking for discrepencies

I think your close on the oe seats (not sure how the 03 seats compare to the 04 seats weight wise though?) 47 driver, 41 passenger- average 44

how about the rear sway bar weight- early on in 03 they made the switch to the 17mm

<--- need to get mine accurately weighed

Mine's within 10lbs of Greg's car. Lighter brakes, lighter header, stock AC installed, heavy front sway bar, very light battery.

I can't remember now. Was mine 2780 or 2880 at nationals in 2004? It was really light and mike kings was 20lbs lighter then mine.

Tom, pretty sure it would have been 2880.

I updated some of the numbers based on what folks have said here. I saw a back thread somewhere where it said that a slider weighed in at 10# and I (doh!) have sliders on both sides. Also I think that my downpipe/cat/midpipe might not be as light as I though it was - it looks like a catless TXS stealthback is 25#, but I have the cat, and I still haven't seen a for-sure number on how much the stock stuff weighs.

It's all starting to make sense, tho

I also didn't list some stuff that I was assuming was pretty much equivalent to the stuff it replaced or negligible: the STi grill, the STi headlights, the Typhoon intake, the Samco turbo inlet, PDE uppipe, Grp N engine/transmission mounts, and solid fog covers. If I actually added all that stuff up there might be 10# or something.

The other easy one is that I was weighing the car with the heaviest wheels and tires - I do have 15# Enkeis with Jason's old 245-35-17 451's. Just by throwing those on and running 1/8 of a tank like I usually do, I would probably be more like 2980 assuming I don't change anything else.

Maybe as an offseason project I will start keeping track of all this stuff more precisely. I would really like to know how much the spoiler weighs. I know the Scoobysport fiberglass/CF spoiler is a little over 7#, and mine is a similar shape but made of heavier urethane.

I'm just paying for my ricer days

I weighed my WRX at the Milwaukee Tour and came in at 2981 lbs. There was mention the scales were 1% off, so maybe 3010 lbs. No spare, 14lb. battery, half a tank of gas, washer fluid half filled, wheels/tire combo that are about 4-5 lbs. heavier than stock each, premium packaged(sunroof, 6-disk, heated seats, etc).

With the titanium exhaust my 2005 STi is 3088lbs in STU trim. Currently it has the full APS exhaust and the Subaru trailer hitch so it is well over 3100 now.

I am pretty sure I can get the car to low 3000 by going back the the titanium exhaust, removing the trailer hitch, going to two piece rotors and swapping in light weight race seats.

Today it was 2896 with 1/4 tank of gas. Not sure why it's lighter than similar '02s and '03s.

Correct, with A/C and 1/4 tank of gas. All junk removed (spare, jack, etc) of course.
