Default Speaker Spacing 04 STI. Door pins, no door pins--trimming, no trimming.

Alright im redoing my front stage in the car,,,again,,,and have decided to go with a 3-way setup, the JL XR653 version. The woofer will be placed in the doors and i'll end up building some sweet Painted kick panels for the 4" and Tweet on the floor.

This question has been asked about 11 million times within the last year so make this 11,000,001.

The mounting depth is 2.81" according to JL. Now ive seached and cannot find a definitive answer. I understand these are extremely deep, however with 2 of Kartboy's spacers stacked there should be window clearance. If not, I'll push it back with some washers.

Here is where I keep getting conflicting info. Among all users of stacked spacers (1" or more) IS THERE, OR IS THERE NOT a requirement to trim the door panel plastic? Some are saying extended door pins and trimming, some are saying one or the other, and some are saying they got em in there with stock pins and no plastic trimming.

Window clearance is totally separate and with thousands of different models/mounting depths i understand that this will differ from person to person. But....

If we are to agree that we are using 1" spacing, there should a consistent message about the fitment of the door panel. I expect to have to grind a bit of plastic and grab some pins from NAPA. Just wanted to know if anyone had experience with this...

Having some problems, I have infinity kappa 5.25i 2ways and IA Performance spacers, but they will not fit behind the trim panels after installed? anyone else have similar problems, and what was done to fix it? Everything else mounted up great, just cant get my trim panels back on, they hit the tweeters on the 2ways...
