Default ecu reflash or standalone?

Im new to the concept of reflashing ecu's.
In the past ive used programs like the haltech, microtec, motec and apexi
on my rx7's.
how do standalone units compare to a "flashed ecu"? (for an 05 sti)
many people use the utec and hydra nemesis with good results
from what ive seen.
which is better?
on one of my rx7's im runing a haltec and it allows dataloging
and lots of cool features.
can a reflash on my sti be the same as a "standalone" system?

Go with the HYdra if you are used to tuning stand alones. I'm the same way you are and when I was looking at the reflashes they do not have all the options a stand alone can give!! Once you tune a standalone and go back to tuning the stock ECU's you get spoiled!!
