Default Poor A/C performance/cutouts due to missing turbo heat shield?

Finally got around to installing my Stage2 parts and ended up killing a few of the heat shield bolts in the turbo heat shield bracket. For now, I'm running without the turbo heat shield (new bracket on order), but I do have turbo wrap and the Crucial ceramic coated DP.

Since going Stage2, I've been having noticeably decreased A/C performance and I can feel the compressor cutting out when it doesn't feel like it should. Enginuity logs confirm that the A/C switch is toggling, so I'm either getting A/C cutouts due to the high/low pressure switch or the evap thermistor (or an intermittent wiring issue?). Tried adding a bit of A/C charge and things got worse, so I'm pretty sure I'm hitting the high pressure cutout, which would make sense due to the added heat soak of no heat shield.

Curious if anyone else has seen A/C cutouts or noticeably reduced A/C performance after pulling off the heat shields. Search yielded plenty of complaints about A/C performance due to the evap thermistor and heat soak due to no heat shields, but I didn't see anything directly relating A/C performance and heat shields. It's possible that it's just a coincidence that the A/C has gotten worse after going stage2, but I think it's unlikely. Either way, I'll find out when I get the heat shield back on...

Well you could pick up some pipe insulation from HD and put it on the AC pipe between the firewall and TMIC to see if that helps.

hmm, I don't know if there's a difference in the A/C stuff for between the STi and the WRX, but I know that I don't have anything retaining the heat from my 20g and the A/C is so cold it'll numb my fingers if I don't crank it up to 80-85 degrees. This is just after an A/C service for an unrelated issue.
