Question Locally, who tunes the EJ20K ?

I very recently bought a '98 JDM Subaru Impreza WRX STi wagon to daily-drive occasionally and to autocross in the summer. I'm a complete Subaru newb... but I've worked on my own cars for the last 42 years, so I hope I'm not too old to learn a new platform.

This STi has the EJ20K engine. I understand they can be less than durable, probably because from the factory they're not happy with the octane levels of our gas here in North America.

I've read about Rob, of Rob Tune, and it seems that he was at one time going to offer a tune for the EJ20K as he has for the EJ20G... and then that project seems to have withered on the vine four years ago.

So... what do you guys here in the Lower Mainland do with your EJ20K engines to help get some performance and durability out of them? I'm not looking to create a monster. I want something reliable. Is there someone locally, an individual and/or a shop, that is trusted and capable of a decent tune?

You can give Drivehard Performance a try. They've tuned a few jdm Subaru's for our gas recently.

Thumbs up Thanks

Thank-you to Ricewagon and alexinvancouver for your suggestions. I'll contact the people named and ask for particulars.

I've been reading up on the daughterboard and software available from Enduring Solutions. This might also be a viable option.
