Default Praise and complaints for new Impreza

I just traded in my 2005 Legacy GT wagon for a 2008 Impreza w/ the Sport Package. I really like the looks of the new Impreza, particularly with the ground-effects and 12-spoke wheels. I am also impressed by the improvements that Subaru has made to the interior. I am currently waiting for them to get me my colour of choice - Rally Blue. During an extensive test-drive, I noticed two things for which I have concerns: the apparently premium stereo system sucks, and my wife's 2007 Mazda 3 Sport feels 'peppier' (for lack of a better word). I am, of course, used to the stereo in the Legacy, which was very good, but I am quite realistic about power (I don't expect the kind of brute force that I had). Maybe the addition of a subwoofer will help the stereo - the bass was particularly anaemic.

Any thoughts?

Default No argument here...

Yes, I know that this is a significant downgrade - much less power, quality, refinement, etc., etc.

I needed to get something easier on gas and cheaper to buy, I am not a big fan of the Matrix, Mitsu is too shaky a company, VW is not reliable (personal experience), no Honda hatchback (Fit notwithstanding), and I liked the quality and reliability of the Legacy.

05 Legacy GT, nice car, wish I had one. Good luck with your new one when you get it.

Subaru has never been known for great stereos.

You are better going aftermarket on a new HU and speakers if you can afford it.

If not everything, a new HU (head unit) will help out as after market amps in the stereos produce cleaner signals at higher volume ranges

I test drove the new wrx and yeah the interior is great and it drives like a dream however I couldnt look at either the sedan or hatchback and say I loved the car. Performance is important when buying a car and yeah it feels like a subaru but to me looks are important to and it just didnt look like a subaru impreza that I have come to love.

First mod I did. A quality head unit. Even on the stock speakers its a HUGE upgrade. Then upgrade the speakers, add a sub if you feel you need the bass...

Audio forum will be of more help to you. But I suggest searching before posting...

Please tell me your LGT wagon wasn't one of the few with MT. If so, you're crazy to have traded it! If it had an AT...well, you're still crazy.
