Default gear ratio calculator/solver

ever wonder what the IDEAL gear ratios would be for your setup?

wonder no longer!

input FD ratio, wheel circumference, desired speed and rpm for some arbitrary 4th gear operating point, what your desired shift bracket [1] is, and solve for a nice, evenly-spaced determination of gear ratios from first through fifth. set your two step once and have it match up perfectly on every upshift! stay right on top of your peak power and maximize your acceleration! get the edge on your competition! sleep with the hottest girls that do the naughtiest things! [2]

the spreadsheet will also show you what your "next gear" rpm would be at any given rpm point, as well as show a chart of rpm vs mph for all gears.

already loaded in the spreadsheet is what i personally consider a very attractive hypothetical gearset. use the fields in red typeface to adjust the parameters to your liking.

disclaimer: this spreadsheet will not manufacture, source, distribute, install or pay for your perfect gear ratios.

have fun!

[1] shift bracket in this context is defined as the desired "upshift at" and "fall to" rpm range.
