Default rear drive axel problem

Can anyone help ive been dealing with a 2003 legacy that gives a whah whah sound on the passenger side rear. I thought it was the bearing but when I took out the bearing, it was good. In addition to the whah whaw sound it gave a little clicking noise too and wore out the rear tire also. Has anyone out there had this problem
