After reading through both of your WRX vs. STi posts, I am personally debating the $8K STi premium.
I would like to know your thoughts and recommendations for us who are wondering how much better the STi really is. Thanks in advance
This is hard to say. I personally have only driven the STi and Rick has been driving the WRX. We will be switching cars shortly to get a good feel between the WRX and STi.
The STi brakes, wheels, transmission (dont forget the STi has DCCD along with front and rear LSD's that the WRX does not), nicer interior materials, push start, HID's, along with more performance oriented struts and springs make a very big difference from the start. Yes you can for sure upgrade all these things on the WRX, but as always it depends on what you want out of the car at the end of the day.
The WRX also has a brand new motor and transmission that has not been proven yet, so only time will tell if the WRX 6spd is as bulletproof as the STi model. And in case some people do not know, the new WRX transmission is NOT the same as the STi. The WRX is an all new transmission, where as the STi uses the same unit as the 14 STi.
Rick is also getting around 28-29MPG in the WRX, where as I am only getting around 22-23MPG in the STi.
