Default Official 2009 Forester Information - Canada Leak!!

Got this information from a very reliable source. I know that it is only confirmed colors but if you look at the model codes, it gives an idea of where the 2009's are going:

Interesting that there are no model codes for a manual transmission Forester XT (Model code would have been 9J1XT)> I think that Subaru \is Missing the boat on this one!!!

More info as I can find it!!!

It would make sense [to normal people] if they didn't offer the XT in a 5MT because they were going to offer a F-STI with a 6MT.
OTOH, it would also make perfect sense [to Subaru, a la no MT Leggy wagons, and then no Leggy wagons at all] for them just not to give a **** about people who like MT.

5EAT I could live with, if I had to.

4EAT and it's off my shopping list.

Maybe it is revenge for not making the wise choice of offering an automatic version of the WRX STI?

maybe the sports will have its own brochure? or was it just a special end of model cycle run? interesting stuff.... its amazing how there have been NO spy shots of the new forester at all.. its amazing especially considering we're less than 3 months from its official debut... damn subaru's good at hiding information...

Notably, GREEN RETURNS! and oh yea, theres no extra silver, dark silver, its just steel grey and dark grey now

that looks like from a brochure, with that said someone post the pics of the 09 forester already

OK, but it is more "official" than all of the speculation that has been around here before

Some standard feature information:
  • All trim levels other than the Forester X will have fog lights
  • Side curtain airbags become standard on all models
  • Forester XT Retains the 4EATS but will have "Sportshift" like the WRX Auto
  • "X" and Touring Packages have 16" wheels, Limited and XT are 17"
  • All trim levels except the "X" will have a moonroof
  • All models (in Canada at least) will have heated seats
  • "VDC" will be standard across the board
  • Rear windows on all models will come with "Deep Tint" (change in vehicles classification because of increased size allowing for this??)
  • Limited and XT versions will have HID headlights (in Canada at least).
  • Drive and passenger side power seats in Limited and XT (instead of just drivers)
This is from a Subaru order form that my source was able to get me a copy of!

Another thing I don't like. I'd kill for the 5EAT / SportShift out of my mom's Outback XT in a Forester... I love that transmission.

If they are going AT on the XT and don't give me a 6spd FSTi, I am jumping ship and they are losing my business on another forester purchase!!! Maybe I can buy up some older XTs and mod them to my liking...keep a couple around as a stockpile.

It looks like the manual transmission is going the way of the dashboard carburator air/fuel adjustment knobs.

Yeah...but as for a manual Forester being for sale in the US and not Canadia....unlikely. We still get manual LGT wagons up here, whereas the US does not. For some reason, more Canucks prefer manuals than Americanos.

Unless some kinda Forester STI comes out....

Still, it's an outdated 4spd automatic. The new Forester is already beginning to stink of disappointment. Most automakers try to go for more gears for better fuel efficiency and performance and we get stuck with a 4spd auto.

Default 4eat

I don't expect the 4EAT to be used much beyond the 2009 model. Subaru has admitted to be shifting towards the use of CVTs. So I expect to see that used in either 2010 or 2011 on the Forester and other models.
