Default tires for my ultraleggeras

I ordered some black 17x8 ultraleggeras off tire rack recently after reading all about pros and cons of 17's vs 18's. A buddy of mine who works at a tire shop says that he has been looking around for a good tire for me and he's decided on sumitomos. I'm not sure which line he's talking about but I've read some reviews and they dont seem that great especially cause he says they'll run me 130 bucks a piece which he says is getting them at cost. I would have just ordered tires with the wheels from tire rack (HIGHLY RECOMMENDED BTW) but this kid convinced me that he could find me exactly what i need. now i'm not so sure.

does anyone that has these wheels or same size wheels know of a good all around tire that lasts a while is semi-quiet, has good grip? Which specs should i be looking at. I drive on dirt sometimes, rarely snow but mostly just street. The offset on the wheels is +48. thanks

Sounds like your friend is going to take you for a ride...you could have gotten something pretty good for $130/tire when you ordered directly from TR. They could have mounted it for free too.

If you're going to do some snow, probably a/s is best for you. Continental ContiExtemes, Pirelli P-zeros M/S or Avon M550 M/S. All should come in way under $130 (depending on size). It doesn't sound like you're much of an aggressive driver if you're only looking for decent grip.
